Makes me wanna paint my R80ST Desert Sand, slap some Afrika Corps logos on and crack open a Lowenbrau.Royal Enfield latest Homage to their rich history in the British armed forces. Taking their inspiration from the infamous Flying Flea which at the height of World War 2 was a favorite mode of transport for the boys in the Pegasus Airborne Regiment behind enemy lines due to it's light weight and reliability. The Pegasus is everything a history buff could ask for. With only 1000 of these individual beauties being made in a one off production, every Classic 500 Pegasus edition will carry a unique serial number stenciled into the side of the tank. Reminiscent of the war department motorcycles that served during World War 2.

There's something so off-putting about a bike made in 2018 that's made to look like a WW2 bike.
What makes those bikes cool is that they've been in the war (or at least made for the war) and they're classic old bikes. You lose all "cool" when the year of make reads "2018".
Triumph do a similar thing with their imitation cafe racers and bobbers. Cafe racers and bobbers are suppose to be customized older bikes, not mass produced in a factory.
Right up there with putting modern music on vinyl.
Its not just Fake News these days, its fake everything.
That includes the old boys bringing fecking Hinckley Triumphs and Piaggio Moto Guzzis along to classic rides.
That concluded my rant about lamb dressed up as mutton.![]()

That's going too far.![]()
I agree that the word 'custom' is much misused, but Triumph and Ducati Scramblers or Hinkley Bobbers don't offend me.
If somebody was going to bring out a WW2 commemorative Enfield are better placed than most, and that holds whether you consider their origins English or Indian.

TM needs another category of bike.
A whole lot of things advertised in the "Classic & vintage" section are neither classic nor vintage .
As an example this morning we have a whole bunch of RE's, a couple of modern Trumpys, a Suzuki TU250 and a Lifan (and the hilarious Kawasaki Bagger) .
They need a Pretentious Hipster Overpriced POS category.

I suggested to the CCMR that they introduce these as a Development Class for classic racing......
Can't see the difference between them and replica Manx Nortons ( other than than the lack of power)
