They'd have sold a lot more Commandos using that one.

This is obviously someone who reckons he should get back everything he's spent on the bike. Would have had a better shot (still a long one) if he'd sold before the new Thruxton was released.

Wtf seriously?! That's $10k more than brand spanking new out-of-the-crate Thruxton R!

    Thoughts?

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...1268742266.htm

What are everyone's thoughts on this XJR1300 turned cafe racer?

She's a beauty from the three pictures... We don't get a view of the front or the back or actually we don't even get the left side of the bike?!

    1999 - 18 year old bike with 48,000kms.

Can't help but think it can be a bit cheaper than the $7500 asking price or do you think she's worth that much?

Just curious as I can't make up my mind.

Yeah! I think so too! I hear Yamaha's XJRs are quite bullet proof.

Do you think she has that value though? I am literally asking because I don't know anything about building cafe racers.

What I'm saying is, does it cost that much to build it with materials or is the seller selling her for a profit which is completely reasonable.

Yeah! I checked out his blog/worldpress site thing that he posted on his listing.

It's his third build after his vespa and triumph. The ducati that he's planning on looks wicked from the sketch already!

it's one of a kind but tastefully done, value is in the eye of the beholder :-)

There's nothing difficult or special in what has been done, but has been done well.

I don't think that's what's going on, that bike is very special, I seem to recall we have had it featured here before - same owner.

    So who is the rider?

" built for one of New Zealands foremost road racers and winner of several world superbike races, a Multiple Canadian Superbike champion, and New Zealand champion."

I actually think that's a pretty fair price fro someone wanting a 'custom' without having to do the work (or pay someone to do the work) it's nicely done unlike many butchered attempts listed in this thread

Bust out the cheque book fella. It won't decrease in value I shouldn't think, and if ya wanna stand out there are far worse ways to do so.
