actually they are as rare as fuck, as they were condemed by the police for ill handling and speed wobbles once they were loaded up and literally taken off the road and sold off, brought the price off normal CBX650's down to about $2k at the time as they were tarred with the same brush.

on top of this hayden is a mate of mine and specialises in cop bikes and has an amazing attention to detail as to what is what on them, they're not my cup of tea but great to see someone preserving them

I had to Google to get some perspective on your distaste of the vest. I'm a visual person and I now have a understanding of your position. Safe to say I won't be seen wearing one .....

hayden lives in ashvegas, the cbx's were the new thing with their fancy hydraulic valves etc, but the wobbly police bikes saw them plummet to leper status quickly

Wasn't there another cop bike that had the same issue - perhaps earlier? The story we heard was that Lester Pester (which I believe was his actual name) who was the local cop had been a bike cop somewhere and he had given chase to someone, and his bike developed a death wobble which chucked him up the road. the offender (likely doing 82-85kph at the time) absconded.

Lester became the head of the Christchurch City Council parking enforcement division later.... early 90's I guess.

Just to clarify, are you talking of not wearing the vest, or, not wearing the butternut pumpkin?

During the 60s the Triumph Saints weren't popular due to being completely unreliable. The ChCh MOT's favourite vehicle of choice at the same time was a Mini Cooper They even used to have unofficial carpark races in it at the old Manchester St parking building

It seems just slightly odd that some bikes we deride, mostly rightly I believe, have a significant number of people watchlisting them. Currently 30 odd hopefuls have that cop bike watchlisted.
