I think 'Investment" is what you tell the wife when buying an old piece of crap you always wanted.
I have always managed to buy at the top of the market and sell at the low.

I've had my Ducati Darmah for 30 years and got rid of the 1959 VW Microbus Project in 2001 for 2k that now would be worth in the same state probably 30K.... maybe CX500's will be the next thing....
Also got a project 1959 Triumph T110 thats been rego on hold since my Son was born. He is 23 and has left home. I don't think it worth the effort of restoring with any thought of a return on time and money.
Fortunately I still have my VW Pick Up truck that after taking up shed space for 10 years is approaching completion.
Working at Maccers in the evening would have earned me more.
Nah, that thing is 5.5k asking price and only 6000 were made.
If it was cool, rare or unusual and when it was new it's probably worth having now.
Look at the way things like R90s' have appreciated over the last 10 years...
So the problem with your Darmah was it was pretty ordinary when it was new, and any appreciation is based on guys who can't afford a 750SS getting one as second best.
Hell, we had people telling us that the POS Ducati 500 parallel twin was worth collecting...

Only reason it I still have it is was not of sufficient value to pay for new white ware, kitchen, bathroom or other fun things.

    I too have sat upon't.

I am short so you'd think the seat-peg thing would be OK. And it is. But dat reach to de bars though.... it reminded me of a proper Katana i.e. great to look at but impossible (for me) to own.

I am with you on the vomit thing. The 650, on the other hand, is a little charmer.

I may have to go and have a lie down. Did I really say that about a CX Honda?

I had one of those. I am 5'8" and it is by far the most uncomfortable heap of shit I have owned or ridden.

I like the CX, very much, but any of the variants (especially the euro one) other than the standard one with the square tank are just so god damn hideous.
I don't know what happened to the styling team at Honda during the 80's, but they should have kept the same team they had in the 70's.

. . . Not saying that excuses a brown quilted seat cover with buttons and other furniture fittings.
Don't worry, when I buy it the seat will be on the chopping block.

What on Jebus's green earth is that horrific monstrosity.. *gagging sounds*
There are no words to describe how unnaturally hideous that thing is. But I shall try. If that motorbike was a person it'd be Caitlyn Jenner in a thong after a long hot sauna.
