I had a Kawasaki Z400 back in the day. (Twin cylinder, drum brakes ... about 1981). Good bike. Sold it too soon.

    Have fun on yours.

Wouldn't worry too much about clubs. As a biker you'll find you're sort of in one by default. I was in Burger King on Sunday in my gear. Another guy and his pillion walked in. We were all carrying helmets ... nods were exchanged and we finished up sharing a table and talking bikes over our lunch.

oh cool thanks mate I am glad to jump on a proper bike instead of a scooter, I swear the bloody thing revving sounds horrid, and the fact someone could overtake me with ease just p***ed me off but to be honest I have to give my scooter credit it got me from A to B (eventually) and it sparked my love for 2 wheels over 4

Firstly, you ride a motorcycle - you don't drive it.

Secondly, take your time seeing what it's capable of.

A ZZR400 as a first bike will be quite capable of doing anything YOU are capable of ... and do it easily .....

Hold off on the paint job if you intend pushing your limits ... or it might need one sooner than you might think ...
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...

ah k cool, dont worry, I am not one of them who will try and pop a wheely the minute I get it, I am a safe driver, and push my limits at a steady pace but I may do the odd limit test once I am really comfy with what I am doing

    Enjoy it and keep safe.
I flipped mine when I had the 600 motor in it, because I am awesome.
