    ROADWATCH

Saw something today that if I had been caught I'd've been nailed good and proper and rightly so. This was a traffic offence commited by an officer here in Christchurch trialing the motorcylces. Don't think it is appropiate to give too many details at this stage as I am waitiang for a response from Roadwatch.

I will say however that in general I am in favour of Police motorcycles as they at least give some traffic enforcment in the inner city. As someone who has worked as a bus driver I well aware how little enforcment there has been, at least in Christchurch.

I am firmly of the opinion that that if officers are going to ride motorcylces in the performance of their duties they have an example to set. What I saw today is no different than the attitude that the motocade drivers had. This guy thinks he is above the law. He's not, and he is going to be reminded that he is my servent and I not his.

I do something wrong. I get booked and it costs. They do something wrong they get a slap on the wrist, the politicians have a whip round and get off free.

Hyprocrite or cunt??..................my option's not here.

well, you're not giving us much to feedback on, are ya? don't need to know his name or reg etc, but at least give an idea what he did..

did he pull a mono whilst lane splitting and pulling a moonie?
They shouldn't be above the law, they should enforce the law by setting an example of what's to be expected (imho anyhoo)..

It's going into the system first. Don't believe in posting the event befor someone has a chance to investigate it. This will not result in a prosecution as roadwatch 'narking' (that's for the Village Idiot) does not result in court action. The attitude of the some of the police in this country is that they can do what they like. There's one here who threatened to kill someone. Same guy admitted that he deliberatly tries and provokes others so that they commit more serious offences. I have had dealings with other police officers whose attitude is that the general public is the enemy and not to be trusted. Such people hide behind their uniform and abuse their rights as law enforcment officers.

I might add that there have been other dealings where they have been more than helpful. I have high expectations of those who serve the law. I don't expect perfection but I do expect integrity. Now when I see an officer break the law, that integrity is placed in doubt. Not too mention that the offence may result in their injury or death, (or the death or injury of the general public) and where a member of the general public is placed in the position of having to defend themselves...........as a result of their own innocence..............then I make no apologies for my actions to anyone.

Systems don't work as far as the law works. They make their own rules.

I think those that serve as the law have an expectation opon them to uphold it. I have a lot of respect for the police yet those that abuse trust and break the laws they are there to uphold, dont get much respect from me

I guess I'm a bit of a fence sitter here. While in uniform and on duty I believe that they should do the job that they are paid for, and that does include setting a good example for others. But off duty, they should be able to lead a normal life and behave just as they would expect others to behave.

I must admit that I have an awful lot of respect for the cops on this forum who are open and honest about their jobs. It must have been very tempting for them to try and mingle without disclosing that were cops, just to avoid this type of criticism.

Cops are human too. Given however many thousands of them there are, it's inevitable there'll be a few plonkers in the number.Be as many duds in the ranks of nurses, teachers, sysadmins, whoever. Just that cps are a hell of a lot more visible.

And everybody has a bit of a grudge against cops . Even if one does respect them in general, one always rememebers that one time when some cop got right up one's nose. And the sanctimonious denunciations from Headquarters ("Prepared to speed" ... yeah yeah) don't help. When a guy in a blue unifoirm has been dissing you for months, and another guy in a blue uniform gets in trouble for the same thing , it's hard not to smirk.

I think it's a prick of a job they have, and don't know why they would want to over do it just to get a hard time by us. We had a dickhead cop in Woodville for years that used to go over the top all the time and even got told he was an arsehole and wanker and the likes, and he would just stand there like the idiot he is and agree. People like that we don't need out there just to pick on those who do try and obey the law as much as possible.

No double standards or stones cast by me. As I said I will let the 'system' deal with this first. When I get their response you will be better informed to make your accusations.

Then why are you making accusations now? You have said absolutly nothing, just slander and accuse - why did you bother to post...with nothing to post...do you work for the media?
