Removing Road and Chain Spooge

Alright. Give us an answer to this one then.

I'm looking for summat that cleans wheels easily, and that preferably is non-caustic, because the alloy wheels on my bike and three cars have paint and/or clearcoat on them, and caustic isn't good.

I twice got some Wurth "Intensive Rim Cleaner" from Kerry @ Motohaus, and it's ruined me. It was a pretty pink gel that I sprayed on, washed the rest of my bike, then rinsed the wheels and all the chain spooge, brake dust and road grime just rinsed away, leaving a pleasant pink odour. Alas (alack!) he can no longer get this product.

I've tried Turlewax Wheel Cleaner, Mr Muscle Orange stuff, Simple Green, Sunlight Dishwashing liquid, and some brand of engine degreaser (in desparation). None of them worked as well as the PrettyPinkGel, and apart from the engine degreaser, all required scrubbing. (The engine degreaser left a lovely emulsion on my tyres, which was very exciting in an InadvertantManiacStuntRiding sort of way, but I'm not sure I want to try that ever again...)

So, has anyone got some MiracleWheelWashingLiquid, that performs well, with minimum HumanIntervention(TM) ?

We use a wash here called Grapewash. I can arrange to see if some will work on your wheels?

At the moment, I'm pissed off and disappointed. Honda has a four-year model cycle for their significant models, and today is the announcement of the 2006 models. The VFR has had a major upgrade every four years since its inception. What does 2006 bring? Apparently, new paint colours, new finish on the zorsts, clear indicator lenses, different graphics on the instruments to make them easier to read, a different windscreen shape, and (wait for it.....) the stupid blardy POS VTec engages at 6400rpm instead of 6850.

Whoopeee.... brake out the party hats. :hbd:
Obviously Honda don't give a crap that Triumph, Ducati, Aprilia and co have gone with their idea for a lightish sports-tourer and improved it.

I usually raid the laundry room and use some of whatever clothing stain remover we have.
It usually works pretty well, but sometimes if the grease / muck has been there for ages you need to put it on twice.
Also really good for cleaning your hands afterwards.

Come on you can do it...be brave like the rest of us...
I could lend you my collection of toothbrushes that I buy from the $2 shop...
they work a treat on wheels.. and other smaller places.

You don't understand! I know how to get them clean, I just can't be bothered with all that scrubbing and stuff, especially because if you miss a wee bit on silver wheels (14 of the buggers!) it really stands out. Plus the cars wheels have all this horrid BlackBrakeSpooge which is a reet bastid to shift.
The WurthWunderSchtuffenzie worked so well that I was sure there must be summat else that works too! They all claim to, and are (so far) guilty of BlatantBullshit and ErrantExaggeration. Phukrz. grumblegrouchwhinge.....

Are you referring to the Ducati ST3 and Sprint ST at 203kg and 210kg respectively?

If so they are hardly what you would call light but even so considering their power output of 107hp (where?) for the ST3 and 123bhp (claimed) for the sprint, If you are after a sprot/tourer, stick with a Honda, save yourself $4,000.00 and buy a Blackbird with 144bhp

You've read my mind vifferman. I was going to post the exact same styled question today.

I've alloy rims and my rear doesn't become clean after using hot water with car washing wax. It's got chain wax and engine oil on it. About 4 yrs worth.

So will Kerosene work on cleaning my rims?
Or is there some better product?

Keep in mind, I don't mind scrubbing but not till my arms falls dead and I've only done 1/16 of it. It should all come off very easily without damaging the rims or rubber or myself.

Spray on a bit of WD40 (please avoid the disk) and wipe off... Certainly it loosens it up and a wash with something mild like Simple Green to finish!
