GSXR1100 1986 - oil change. But what is this?

Had the GSXR11 for a while now and have done 3000km, it had an oil and filter change when I got it.
Did a change today and found something that looks cool.

I am thinking this is not standard... is just a new fancy cover being cool that no one will see or does it mean more?

had the bike for a while, usually like to do yearly changes but this slipped away but its been 3000km since I purchased it.
Now brought a book for each bike so I know what has been done and when.

Also worked out NEVER ask what oil to use, its like asking what tyres are best or who's a better root, fat or thin.
There will be no clear answer.

Always (In all such cases) ... ask yourself if you believe you are getting value ... for money spent ...

The answer WILL be clear ...

    What a great post.. agree.
Me are thinking, average oil, changed frequently and better than when the bike was made.

Buy a hospital bed and convert it, much cheaper than a lift bench

Aaron you should be getting all the trick bits coated by HPC in Mahia rd, should make the bike at least 10kph faster when sitting still.

Busted the oil filler cap and ordered a new one, dam thing was black not the same colour as the original engine.
Looks like I may have trouble finding the right colour cap.

Mind you I could paint the new one.

Moral of the story here is don't use an adjustable spanner when undoing a tight oil filler cap...

Certainly plan to HPC coat the exhaust as the coating is getting thin / old / corroded, don't want to try and buy a new exhaust. No rust yet!
Have to say I love this bike, goes great.
