anyone know where I can buy one of those hard plastic Givi pannier case things? I'd rather have one of those over a tank bag etc. Would it fit my bike? any ideas on price? thanks

You mean a top box don't you? Check out the Givi web site.

I got mine from motormail.
But most bike shops should get them in for you.

Givi don't seem to list a monorack for the FXR.
