I got a few dirty looks from my old neighbours when firing up the SV.

It has two bros cans and is fairly loud.

To be fair, I could see their kitchen window vibrating in its frame and the noise also set off their car alarm, so if the shoe was on the other foot, I'd be a bit pissed off too.

It takes a special kind of arsehole to write anonymous notes and as such they merit no consideration at all. In sum? Fuckem!
    Keep riding.

I had the same concern when I had the MT's muffles done recently, I, like another poster sometimes leave for work at 2am. Maybe I am lucky due to construction/materials, or just lucky by chance. the MT's is quite deep in sound and actually fairly quiet till 3k rpm.
I've had no complaints yet, but I do ride on minimal/'tick over' throttle and trickle the bike out past the other units.

...you could always show them what kind of noise a TL can ACTUALLY make at 6am
That way they will know the amount of effort you go to at 6am to keep the noise down.

If they don't have the guts to sign the letter and talk to you about it then I'd say just ignore it. Maybe put it back in the letterbox with a response saying you're happy to discuss the matter if they want to come over and talk about it, just in case they come back with another one :P

Regardless of whether you own cars or not, its your prerogative to choose your preferred transport mode (as long as it's not a jumbo jet lading on the lawn haha). You don't have to explain yourself to anyone and it sounds like you're being pretty darn considerate talking to the guys across the street anyway.

There is a really old bunch of buggers in Oamaru with nothing better than to bitch and moan.

I got the same recently in Oamaru because I was riding my noisy motorcycle around town.

I just asked them if they remember what side valve motorcycles sounded like in the 1930's?

I would just keep the revs and powerdown until you get up the road a little, and not worry about the concerned resendence society.

Why are most of you getting stuck into the old buggers? They have been pretty well exonerated. I find the worst sorts of offenders like this younger or middle aged people who think they're slightly "better" than their neighbours, and don't want to be seen to be a fuckhead, so, resort to sneaky anonymous tactics.........
