We had a similar one by some local vigilante concerned about disorder drunks and fast cars etc... started reading the waffle then binned it when saw no name attached to it.
You should get up 30mins earlier and do a few laps and see whose curtains twitch first...

No point annoying the 99% who apparently don't mind. (It's not like it was a petition from all the neighbours.)

Returned home today to find an unsigned letter in the mailbox requesting i dont,even pointed out that we own 2 cars so there was no reason for me to take the bike to work at all(thats considerate eh).We have a number of old folks self owned units across the road and have always got on well with all the owners so went door knocking and no it wasnt them one old bloke said it was a "delight to listen to".6am isnt exactly early to my way of thinking,thing that irks me the most is that they didnt put a name on the note so i cant even go and discuss it unless i just door knock down the street until i find the writer,anyone else had this?In fairness will add that my old TL is a shit of a thing when cold and does require some warming up but its not like its sitting there for any great length of time.

I would have stuck the letter to the letter box with a reply letter saying " only if you pay for the extra gas" and stuff them you arnt going out of your way to be noisey, it just is :P

Took the noisey thing to work this morning with no notes upon my arrivel home,taking it in the morning and to be honest i really feel as though i need to make more noise,tis about establishing boundaries.

Alternatively, you could just ride as normal, but try to make a bit less noise. Granted, they were rude and cowardly about what they did. But if they are disturbed by the noise, is there something you can do at no cost and little effort, which might address the problem for them?

Well, the solution is pretty damned obvious!
Sell the cars!

I go to work at 4am, no passive aggressive notes yet.

What's to say he wasn't doing that already? Most of us would.

Some people are just natural born arseholes, and in this instance it's most likely to be the writer of anonymous notes.

Friend of mine was made redundant, he was out of work but couldn't claim the dole because his wife was a manager in a major NZ company. As many women do, when she got married she kept working under her maiden name. They received an anonymous letter pointing out that the writer knew she was using a false name to facilitate benefit fraud by her husband and that unless she saw the error of her ways the writer was going to report them to WINZ. (It wasn't worded quite like that, the writer was only semi-literate.)

This was all complete bollocks of course, but they were quite upset and wondering who would do such a thing. A few weeks later one of their friends was at a party where someone announced to the gathering how he had sorted some benefit fraudsters. Turned out he was the owner of a local gas station - and a born again Christian.
Dude obviously hadn't understood the teachings of his saviour.

Having seen the effect his letter had on my friends, I have nothing but contempt for people who write letters but are too pusillanimous to sign them.

Perhaps, but in my experience, telling someone they're a prick rarely stops them being one.

There is a difference between complaining about noise (and being frightened of retribution), and making false and intimidating accusations.

you might find it's not some one in your street but on the corner in the motel units, who's had a bitch at the owners & who stays there a bit, any way if you get a letter/call from the just tell them, at the end of the day you're saving the planet by using your bike saving on fuel & road maintenance bla bla bla, or to save time I have a & I want to ride it, it's legal.... read my lips

I'd just keep riding, if it's causing them such an issue they'll be forced to confront you about it! Until they have the guts to do that I wouldn't change a thing!
