Awesome-more roads for me to have a play on relatively close to home...I often nip down the motorway or the back roads from here south and back up via Miranda and Maraetai- I can easily add some of these roads in.
[QUOTE=oneblackflag;1130692733]Nice day and I had little else to do, so I thought I'd do a bit of adv.
Had to really test out my Tough Enduro skills today with this bad boy blocking the road
Had some ass-wipe in a mini truck swerve at me head on, on SH27 too; otherwise pretty uneventful Monday ride.
Sticking to the back roads
Nice, not sure which ADV tire grips best on tree trunks though
Thought I'd have another go on Pirongia West Rd. The last time left some 'character' on both sides of the bike and some bloodied and riped jeans
First had to go up Pekanui rd, which is an awasome twistie sealed road in bush. Resently been reseald and hasn't been swept properly ended up having a foot down moment because of grit build ups between tyre tracks.
Pirongia Wests road's surface was the familiar marbles I loathed last time, hasn't been crushed down much over ~6 months; makes for more butt clenching than fun:
Some tyre tracks that clear the way a bit but woe be to you if you drift into thre deep stuff:
You do get the reward of great veiws of Kawhia Harbor which is worth it:
Was too tired and late in the day to do the other roads there that I planned on doing: Moerangi and Okupata. Another day.
Saw my fair shar of piglets, sheep and goats on Pirongia West rd... Oh to have a portable spit roaster...

Great shots again, but still happy that your doing that while I work![]()
Had a bad daywhat better way to get over it than thrashing the bike
Went down Mangiti Rd and Te Akau Warf Rd to look out over Raglan Harbor to Raglan, had a close call with a semi on Mangiti Rd just had enough room to squeeze down the side of it and stay upright. Mangiti Rd has just had fresh gravel layed on it so it got a bit sketchy with the pressure I had in the tyres, let them down a bit then had me some fun
Then off up the coast on Te Akau South Rd, started to get steering whith the rear locked in.
Then Te Akau Rd, Highway 22 and home
Even got the stats this time:
Total distance 161 km
Total time 2:45:03
Moving time 2:19:03
Average speed 58.55
Average moving speed 69.86
Max speed 130
Max elevation 210m
Max grade 11%

BY GPS standards...prob 110kph or thereabouts....
I recall seeing from Putaruru to Old Taupo road I was doing 185 kph and slowed down to 48 kph in the space of approx 50 metres...
I knew I had good brakes, but.....? Geez..
It is no wonder we can't find lost aircraft with 'blips' in space from GPS and satellites....
