Hahaha, very funny and good call
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

It seems that they've limited the readout on them.
    To prevent record attempts.

    Spoilsports . . .

Have used them a couple of times, but how accurate are they? Never been sure enough to trust it. Have used the 5k speedo test on the southern, but can you be sure that if your odometer is accurate that your speedometer is too?

Right on WRT, they'd be linked together and it's normally something like wheels or tyres that throws it out?

You can't; odometers are usually not too inaccurate, whereas speedos (as standard) are usually a few percent optomistic.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

If anybody wants to "calibrate" their speedos (note the deliberate non-use of a capital s), they're welcome to borrow my GPS.

    Speed doesn't kill people.

Excuse me sir, but if "speedos" is a contraction of speedometers, should it have an apostrophe placed before the final s?

But even if you discover your speedo is out, how do you adjust it so that it's right?
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

A Sigma 800 is the way to go. About 50 bucks. Clips on/off to your handlebars. Size 1.5" x 1.5". Reads off a tiny magnet araldited to your front rim. Rig the pick-up sensor to within 5mm of the spinning magnet. Dial in your wheel diameter to set. Reads to 300kph. Accurate to 1 kph. Get 'em from pushbike shops.
