I'd be in ....if I had the coin. Always liked the bobber look.
I think NZ is too small for a lot of niche groups. There's cruiser guys and sportsbike guys etc. But as for custom builds and bobbers etc. Just build what you want, chuck up a build log if you want, offer a hand and ask for a hand.
You don't have to join a club any time you want to do something. Just do it.
A small streetfighter club - http://www.nzstreetfighters.com/foru...php?topic=38.0
But basically what Hayde55 says. Build something you like and go ride around
Wellington had a good turnout at the DGR and there's the Polished Rockers bike show next month in Paraparaumu

Hey Paulo, that looks great - where did you find out about it? Will definitely be along.
There was a bigger turnout at the Auckland DGR so you'll probably find more likeminded folk up there. My brother-in-law (in Auckland) has a GN250 that he's turned into a bobber (stop laughing - it looks great!). I'll ask him if he's got a crew of riders up there.
WELLINGTON: Tag-o-rama
I saw a poster in a few bike shops and there's an ad in cycle trader this month. it's organized by some of the attendees of the DGR (Mike Dobson local BMW guru and builder and a few others)
guess they decided there were enough interesting bikes hidden away in Wellington to Warrant another event. Looking forward to it.
(nothing wrong with modding a Ginnie, whatever makes you smile)
Good olde welly, always one step ahead of the rest......just Rusty robots brother-in-law in Auckland then ?
If KB admin were to set up a sub section for bobbers/cafe racers would their be enough interest or would this fall under mods ?
.
Definitely a bigger crew than that in Auckland. Check out this video of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in AK last year (Mark, the B-I-L, is in there somewhere)...

(not sure why it wont embed on this forum).
And I think this is their facebook page, although I can't access FB at work so not 100% sure. No doubt you can make contact through that.

I knew I'd find it eventually, here's the crew for you....

I don't think it has much of a pulse tho.
Having said that, there are heaps of people building bobbers. There's just no meeting point on the net for them, or none that I know of. Grease Monkeys has generally been more receptive towards modded (old) Harleys, rather than Japanese modded bikes. If you have a panhead bobber you would be well received there.
They used to have some get togethers, been to one years ago, but not much happening recently, that I know of, just a couple of chopper shows.
Judging by the turnout at Polished Rockers this weekend i'd say the pulse is beating strong in the lower north Island, bloody awesome turnout this weekend,
here's a few snaps a mate of mine took (guess who forgot their camera)

Here's my friends bobber poject http://www.retrotech.co.nz/Projects/SavageBob.php. He's just got it up and running and it's making a bit much boost so it needs a pulley change ....or some grease on the belt![]()
