yip,was an air cooled floater-id say it wouldn't be too far behind my 88 powerwise....gonna sell it and get an it465-i hear they have a better eng than 490 (had one of them too-a pig to start)
Yep those were the days RM's and YZ's were the weapons of choice, CR's and KX's just weren't as plentiful . Maico Husky Montessa even rarer . I started out in 79 on a PE175n into enduro bikes as you could ride them in more events MX, Hare scrambles, Enduros , Trail rides etc back in the day.
Oi this thread is about 80's RM's...I love mine.1980 Rm125T & 83 RM125D
And what is it about you big bore riders that you are always moaning...whats not to like about cushy torque that your grandmother could ride.![]()
Lol. Quiet in the cheap seats. Just because you like riding girls bikes. Most mortals (me included obviously) can go around a race track way faster on a 125 or a 250 than they can on an open class bike. But that (to me at least) is missing the point. From the time I first cracked the throttle open on a big bore two stroke I was hooked. But just so we get to race on equal terms...I'll have my 84 KX125 finished before too long so we'll see then.
Nice bike Crasher, been watching some footage of Dave Thorpe in '81 on the SR500. Legend.
Still got a couple of boxes of piston's, levers, full gasket sets, O rings you name it for the Kx5 .
What's your re-power plan ?
