Are they 2 strokes? If so maybe it's due to the fact that the sale of new 2 smokers accross Europe is being phased out, due to the fact that they fail to meet Europe's strict new emmission legislation. Also - if you attempt to get a new MOT (WOF) on a 2 stroke in the UK these days there may be issues with bikes failing to pass the strict emmission tests.

Then again - I may be talking out of my arse. For a change.

Wouldn't that be 'pound-down' deal? With the exchange rate you'd want to be careful, that could almost tripple the purchase price!!

The prices at auction here are getting stupid ,,I think ( not just me ) that there is abigger company driving uo the purchase price ,,

thus squeezing profit margin,,,Maybe america and UK look a better prospect ???
I know That bits for me CR are cheaper from the dealer than off the auctions ...strange but true

I know for a fact that the EU as well as basically killing off two strokers has also killed off a bunch of other engines, due to emission levels. So fazer thundercat are both gone, so it stands to reason that the second hand market is full of these bikes and no one wants to buy one over a bike that will be legal to drive in a couple of years time, against one that will not. So its a good guess that countries where the restrictions aren't as hasrh are going to be dumping grounds for for the over stocked second hand market in the UK and europe, sort of like the way we accept in second hand aisian cars but OZ don't.

    As someone living there ATM

Nothing to do with emissions laws as it only affects new bikes.

    Real reason IMHO

    1) Kiwi's 2nd hand bike prices being really high. Brit 2nd hand bike prices being really low
    2) Kiwi dollar being pretty strong. British pound being pretty weak.
    3) Glut of 2nd hand bikes on the market that dealers can't shift

    Reason 3 partly due to
    4) Insurance premiums rocketing (and it's compulsory over here)
    5) Petrol prices (96 p per litre last time I looked) - Probably affects the Honda sales more
    6) Fashion conscious Brit riders being told their sportsbikes are "so last year" by magazines and that they should be riding supermotards or huge trailies.

Also the fact that there are many stupid 40somethings in the UK who buy a bike and then don't ride it. If you don't believe me have a look on www.ebay.co.uk and check out all the 2 or 3 year old bikes with less than 1000Km (often with an accompanying scuff on the fairing where owner has dropped it in the garage).

    That's my tuppenceworth.

isnt it funny how wherever third party is compulsory the insurance costs go through the roof. like in aus. must be many more claims or because they have a captive audience that has to have insurance.

If they make it compusory they as well make it a government tax or just add it to the rego... at least that way they wouldnt get sooo ripped off. I met a 20 year old with full license, in Ireland who was paying 2000 pound a year for full insurance for his 1991 ford festiva!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    ¿Porque no ?
