it's not gonna snow, rain or just generally be fucking cold is it? nah...

It is in the shadow of ruapehu so it's not going to be warm haha, I live in kapiti so would be keen to tag along to the other ride you mentioned. Only been here for a few months, so would be good to meet some people who ride.

they keep changing it from a summer ride to a winter ride every couple of years. last couple i've been on have been in summer, the last winter one i remember we had to break off icicles when we came out in the morning.

hope the weather dudes are as accurate as usual coz looks like rain on sat and worse on sun.

I did a summer one and the dust was so thick in some sections it was seriously dangerous.

Only because some still rode flat out even if they couldn't see shit.
That was the one where someone died.

    But wet is best.

People were also stopping in the middle of the tracks inside thick dust clouds, even if you were going at a sensible pace, it was fucking hard to see them until you were on top of them. And of course, there were more than a few not going at a sensible pace.

And then some, I had video of a group doing follow the leader and went past a turn and carried on riding.
I think it took them about 1hr to catch back up.

on the second lap it got better as there just wasnt so many bikes, not that it will be a problem this weekend.

fun weekend away but man that was hard work!

the open desert sections (which seem to get less and less every time i do this ride, sad face) were as always awesome and why we come up for this ride but the forestry stuff with the rain and mud and general less than ultimate fitness made it a bit of a mission at times.

but when you're sitting out in the desert looking at the views it's all good.

as for chris birch doing it on his 1190... i just don't understand how.

Chris passed us like he was riding a 250.
Also the boys/men section you have on the photos when we got to it someone had changed the direction, not cool.

    Good ride in the mud.
