    Ethical question

What do you do if you see a bike for sale on TM that you know is being misrepresented?

Is it “anything goes” and buyer beware?

Or, is there a moral obligation to ask a couple of questions that may make potential bidders cautious?

I am not talking about opinions of a bike or its worth, I am talking about a bike that I know, that has been bought by a backdoor dealer, re registered and advertised with 80.000kms less on the clock than it previously had.

In a situation like this it can be a little harder for potential buyers to check the bikes history, so If motorcyclists are a community that need to support each other should I do something or not?

I am undecided myself but am interested in others opinions.

Yeh dob the cunt in. Assuming you are 100% sure it is a deliberate act by that dude, rather than him getting fucked over by someone else.

    a few thoughts -

when you say it is a Bike you know - how well do you know it - well enough that you would stake your house/life on it?
As for the Mileage - has anything been done that would justify such a claim - for example replacing the engine with one that has done lower Kms (although if this where the case, it should be made clear)
The person that is selling this, presumably you have some form of relationship with them in order to know the bike - would you be at a great loss if you lost this?
Is there anyway this could be an honest/careless mistake as opposed to deliberate deception?

Finally - the correct way would be to lodge something to TM helpdesk about this - as opposed to being a dick asking questions (which can always be unanswered by the sellers)

lol wut? Then it's the same mileage with a (maybe) lower km replacement engine, not lower kms.

What I meant was - I have seen people on TM (not that I 100% agree with this practice) advertise the lower KM in the KM section of Trademe and then in the body of the auction mention that the engine was replaced and using that to justify their advert.

Definitely tell the seller to pull his head in at least. Dishonest sellers are c*nts.

Especially if there's any safety implications (maybe if it's a crashed bike being put back on the road or poorly repaired etc)

Don't want repercussions but want him stopped? Let IRD know he is operating as a dealer.

Had the same thing happen with one of my old crashed bikes. Tried to intervene but it still sold for 7 grand (I bought it mint for 8). The buyer sold it on for 3 when he realised how bad it was...
