Don't go through Dome Valley for a bit

They are "upgrading" the road.

They are doing a sneaky tactic .. heading north you'll first encounter the a new surface where they've put tar down then spread the fine gravel (10mm stones) over it .. bit crap especially since it's already worn through in one day, but then comes the nice bit, half way through the valley they've changed tactics and lain 1cm stone chip over the top of the exiting road surface without any sticky tar stuff to hold it down, nice to find in the dark, it'll be like riding on marbles at the moment ... fecking awesome idea!

Add to that you have the twat truck drivers going through it at 80km/h you'll think you were in an islamic country being stoned to death :-(

Always preferred to go over the matakana or leigh hills myself, never liked the dome.

my pet hate - poor road works, wait til they put tar down and then the stone chip an 'sweep' the loose stones off most of the stones get put into the grass verges for me to mow. or there will still be quite a few stones loose after a few days - they dont seem to come and sweep again. alot of this in south auckland its cheaper than the hot mix aye. and the signage is usually crap or doesnt exist....

like following those trucks with the crash pads and direction indication boards, how many have you followed with all the lights flashing and then they pull over or travel at 60ks for ages and then pull over for no real reason. if they arent doing anything the lights etc should be off thats my rant today.

i feel the chip seal should be put down and swept over 3 days morning and afternoon and the loose stones collected rather than pushed somewhere else....

Joy of joys, my wife has just confessed she got caught speeding in Dome Valley today at the road works ... fecking great! :-(
