The ZXR looks cool, like a proper bike. The Suzuki doesn't.

Zxr is far more powerful.. Will win a race any day. 4cyl so the screaming engine you're used to. Gsx is 2 cylinder, much tamer, not as fast, much heavier, but is a sports tourer so more stable on the road, more comfortable, easier to ride, easier on the posture. As a speedcomparison, the zxr should do between 180 and 200 and I imagine the gsx tops out around 180 at most. Power wise, the zxr wins with 45hp and the gsx only has between 36 and 40. Though the gsx should have a lot more torque being a twin.

The ZXR is a better bike in almost every way. Loved mine. Such a fun bike to ride.

    Thanks, okay ZXR it is.

To be honest I only want to spend about $2000 on this.
Does that sound achievable for a bike of this age / mileage etc?

I LOST $600 on my $2300 GSF250 when I sold it after 6 MONTHS ownership
and it was the cheapest when I bought it,
so I've been burned once buying/selling cause of low baller market and don't want to fall for it again..

You don't make money in vehicles unless you're particularly lucky. People who shop based on resale potential are usually pretty boring people to be around.

Get a real bike, fuck this 250cc shit.

You only lose money when you sell it. I bought a new GPZ500 once, sold it with high mileage 18 months later and lost a bloody fortune. Bought it on HP so it was several years until I cleared that particular debt. Never again he says. Ten years ago I paid cash for a new SV1000. It is worth sod all now but depreciation over ten years is much better than over two years, or six months.

Buy something that you might hang on to a little longer or expect the same thing again. And yes, get a bigger bike. A ZXR750 also comes in red and black..........

Don't know if you'll be talking them down to $2k but make an offer and see what happens.

I have seen that ZXR parked up in Hamilton. It looks really good. Probably worth giving a good look over though as it is easy to be misled by some new fairings.

Going from a GSF250 to any other 250 isn't going to be much of an upgrade. Waste of time/money imo. You're MAYBE gaining 4 hp going from the Bandit to the ZXR? That's assuming the ZXR is running right.
Better to just wait until you get your full and buy something you really want, or go for something a bit bigger from the LAMS list.

Carb clean is free if you can do it yourself.. If it needs cleaning by now, it probably needs balancing too.. Should cost a few hundred $$
