    Road Bike Stunts

I may be stupid and crazy but I always ride within my limits. SO how do you go about doing wheelstands and other stunts on a bike? I went to the library but all I found was books on bike models.

Buy a motocross bike and try it out on that first it will be less expensive.

Are you saying that wheelstands and other stunts are 'within' or 'without' your limits? Not sure what you're asking here?

For some real good how-to info on doing stunts try
    http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/index.php?

I would try using a trials bike before a road bike.

If you are using your road bike then invest in some heavy duty body armour and add some havy duty engine bars to your bike (saves on plastic repair)
    Motorbike only search

There are many methods or idea's on how to do wheel satnds etc etc...

But for my 2c worth let me just say this. Stay within your comfort zone. Start small get confident see what the bike does and then go from there. If you leap in the deep end and just go hard you might find yourself in a spot of trouble. It also matters a little on your bike. I find that i can clutch the honda up quite high but it sucks when trying to do it under power. The gixxer on the other hand i am (albeit small) playing around with doing them under power in first and havn't even thought of clutching it yet but we'll see. Take it easy

I used to do it on my old honda xr250 but that's a different bath tub of beer!
The feel on a sports bike is you have less control with the handle bars and there's alot more weight, I tried jumping a judder bar tonight (I know I shouldn't do it on my bike!) but I wanted to see the feel, and it felt like I was jumping with an elephant, I felt like I didn't get any air, but as for wheel stands, if I stuff it up and go side ways and crash it's going to be expensive to repair, do these bikes usually stay stable or do they actually wobble left and right then fall? I've already dropped the bike (first day I got it) in the driveway (dont ask how was an extreme blonde moment) and It took me and another mate to lift the bike, even then we struggled. So I'm in two minds.
also I want to stand up on the seat and ride along with one foot ont he handlebars, but I want to master the wheelstands first.
As for those front stopper things, How the F * * * do you do those with that kinda weight?~?

there are a few great videos on stunting ( i carry a few at Colemans) .. one in particular features this blonde girl in the US and shes a BADASS !

one note though.. if you are worried about the cost of repairs on your bike due to stunting.. dont stunt.. the very nature of stunting says that you are going to scuff/ snap/bend/scrape/break shit.. tires, fork seals and steering head bearings are going to be ongoing expenses.

also.. LEARN HOW TO FALL.. seriously.. you come off while standing on your tank and land wrong.. th-th-th-thats all f-f--folks

as far as stoppies..those hurt worse than almost anything if you get them wrong.. ( faceplant plus bike up your ass= broken neck/ back).. practice on a smaller bike (dirtbike/ trailie) before moving onto anything with bulk

i get the occasional wheelie.. maybe a small stoppie.. my adrenaline comes from speed

Hehe, you still have that dirtbike mentality. Sportsbikes don't jump juddarbars as you found out with the elephantitis effect!

The bike will stay stable if you practise on straight roads and concentrate on doing it in a straight line. It's about balance and control once the front wheel is in the air and the more you do it the better you will get, the higher you will raise it and the longer you will keep it in the air, then there's the changing of gears which comes later...I had quite a bad wobble going with a wheelie I did on the weekend, managed to land it straight but it gave me a fright alright, had a few guys watching me too.

If you want to start doing that stuff you need to give yourself heaps of practise doing simple wheelstands first, then get off the road and go to the track or some abandoned carpark and break your neck! (jk)

Well i could see if your bike does wheel stands first aye

Just do little ones under power. Take it up to about 7k in forst then button off quickly and the quickly wack on the power. At first maybe not open full throttle but you're basically bunny hopping the bike. So you can give a tug on the handle bars but i found that the gixxer comes up really really fast if i do so i just plant my ass to get weight off the front end. Really wanna do the clutch thing on the gixxer but so far my feeble attemps have lead me to the conclusion that things happen a lot faster on the gixxer than the cbr.

P.s. to any out there clutching it up in second on a 600. Any trick i should know about cause at the moment i am getting little height and feeling like i am giving the clutch a good reaming

Hmm, I downloaded a video of two Blackbird riders learning to wheelie yesterday. They weren't very good at the start, but got better. Thankfully none hit the deck.

Yup, I was about 50m off Zed's tail when he wobbled left a little, then right a little more at a decent height before putting it back down safely. Believe me, that is a BIG bike to see wobbling in front of you!!

But that man does love his one wheeled action........and I've only been out with him once..
