    Holy crap you are nuts.

Having said that, I like this going fast over this particular speed hump, getting air, tapping my heels together while doing a hand stand on the bars on the way home...

    I'm giving you ideas...

Anyone can pop a wheelie, so its not really considered a stunt.

Still, you have to learn the basics before doing the fancy stuff. So you need to work out the saftey procedure, and basic skills.

Yes, you need to wear the saftey kit (basically MX kit is what i'd call a minimum because its designed to take that sort of bashing), and you need a special bike - although for learning I suggest a dirt bike or old dunger that can be bent a busted).

The hardest of all the stunts to do is the most basic one you need to learn before all others. Basically, balance on the bike without moving it or putting your feet down for about 2 mins. If you cant master that simple one, dont bother with the rest because they are pretty much all built on it.

If you are really serious on stunting then basically the technical name for the sport is called 'motorcycle trials'. You'll note the specially designed bikes. All the tricks done by the sports bike dudes on the videos are just basic skills for trials riders (any trials rider will tell you that) - they just make it look showy and impressive for the punters.

There is also no speed involved in stunting - just in case you thought there was - 99% of the tricks involve either a stationary bike or moving about 10mph. Its one of the reasons why no-one uses road bikes (even the guys you see at race tracks use specially designed bikes).

Remember its safety, safety, safety, technique.

However, if all you want to do is tricks on a road bike, then tender yourself to the prat on wheels club, because thats all those people are.

    Just my opinion.

Yes, those were the predominant ones I did. Quite easy to get up and can hold for much longer time/distance.

So how did you do it. DO you really have to grab a handfull of revs cause i have been trying it on the gixxer and all i get are like 30-50cm wheelies and it feels like i am really dumping the clutch??????

Ahhh the often asked question...well aff-man, you've read and heard all about the different wheelie techniques so I have no news for you! Different bikes are easier/harder to wheelie so the amount of clutch & throttle you need may be more or less, the key is finding what works well with your bike and practising practising practising, you need to get to a stage where you can *feel* the wheelie with your biker senses rather than just dumping the clutch and flicking the wrist hoping it comes up.

Aff, when using the clutch. On a 600 pretty much pin the throttle to the stop, shift ya weight backwards, give it some clutch (keep it pinned the whole time eh) if comes up 50cm, give it a bit more clutch, comes up higher, but still dropping even with throttle pinned, need more clutch, good speed range to be around 70-100kph 2nd gear.
As you get closer and closer to balance point and when you feel you are gonna flip it back off slightly, dont just shut it off, it's all practice bro, keep at it and it'll come to ya.
you can even try given it a tug on the bars when you slip the clutch, cant hurt. (dont hold me to that).

But yeah every bike is different, i got off my 1000cc which will pull up on command anywhere from 0-170kph, onto buggys 04 636, bit off clutch and it came up nice n smooth (nice bike to pull a wheelie on to be honest), then onto Swannys YZF750, with a real tall first gear and a clutch that had seen better days it took some fair amount of abuse to get up, basically in 1st gear 60-70kph and a huge dump on the clutch saw it catching some air eventully.
The TLS is a great bike to practice on, for either clutch or off the throttle wheelies, they crash pretty sweet too...................

Cheers man i will try that. I am getting better with the power wheelies in first but thins still happen very very fast so I really want to get into secong gear ones. I'll just have to practice more
p.s. a little tug on the bars when you "jump" it up in first make it come up a lot quicker

I started out doing 1st gear power wheelies, but found with a bit of speed on in 2nd it became alot easier, once you get the hang of it, 1st gear is just natural, dont stress about changing gears either when starting out, you can go a long way still in 2nd gear.
The whole it happens too fast is just getting used to it same for me and lots of others out there, just keep practicing and you'll find it happens slower and slower.

I have seen a guy who can pull a wheelie on a super150 like 6hp or sume shit and keep it up because he has uber balance and change gears into 4th and do all of the senic drive on one wheeli on a 1980's scooter....
