I pour oil from measuring jug through funnel, once I've got to the final level I leave it to drip into engine where it is and start putting away other tools etc or let it drip back into oil container.

I'd say that often local stores can supply what you want at a fair price, it is worth giving them the chance to do it.
But if you just can't find what you are wanting or the price is ridiculous then what can you do?

I always find that there is another drop or 2 even after leaving it for an hour. This is a good thing, it means that the sides of my pistons probably are not completely dry when I start my bike in the morning.
