O cant forget the girls doing standstill wheelies while using there front wheels to kung-fu kick each other![]()
The only redeeming feature of the movie was the fact that they got jesse james and a few of his west coast choppers in there![]()

Anyway, I miss the whole idea of what's so bad of Torque being aimed at Playstation generation. (err.....so what's so bad about it?)
I mean, if you want realistic bike action, you can get it from racing vids (motogp? superbike? etc). If you want total stunts, there are more than 1000gigabytes of vids of those yankees in the internet for free download. Right? So, a vids for playstation games I consider to be filling in the gaps
I mean: great!A Playstation Movie!
Euh.....I think I'd better shut up now....

Ummm - for something to be entertaining - by its very definition doesn't it have to be enjoyable?Originally Posted by paco27zim

Well having finnally seen both....
Biker Boyz was a better story / production.
Torque was more entertaining.
compared with mainstream movies they are both shite but they are not mainstream movies, and if we do not support them they will stop making the genre. On the other hand if we take them for what they are and support them there will be more. If they become bankable then they will start making them with bigger budgets and better scripts. I bet there are hundreds of excellent scripts out there that require fast powerful bikes. But no-one bank rolls anything on that level unless there is a guaranteed return.
We went along to see torque knowing that it would be heaps of cg crap, and really enjoyed it,it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while.
Just don't expect a serious flick all the time and you may find some entertainment in these things.
And anything that puts bikes in front of the general public (that isn't the news promoting how many of us get killed, how dangerous we are, etc)in a positive light can't be all that bad.....
I have Judgement Day 2 on DVD, now that's a kick arse sportbike vid. No CGI. No blue screens. Just real stunts.
Maybe I should pickup a projector and setup a screening w/ beers sometime...
Think about it before you say - no one was killed so it was positive?? Not dangerous?? Look at the moves in the movie.......yeah - REAL SAFE RIDING THAT WAS.Originally Posted by DEATH_INC.
Having seen the movie - the stunting etc could be seen to do more harm to the average biking stereotype than good. Whilst no one was killed - it hardly represented safe and appropriate street riding.
This movie did as much for biking as Fast and the Furious did to boy racing!
I don't think it was a 'positive light' as you say........try the moves in the movie on the road and then explain your way out of it in court? The movie most likely did more to reinforce to non-bikers that those riding bikes are nutters with no respect for other road users, than have any positive result. All it did was cement stereotypes!
Plus - I would guess that 99.99% of the people who went to see the movie were ALREADY IN TO BIKING - therefore the exposure to the 'general public' was very limited anyway
Why is it that as bikers we dont seem to be allowed to have fun because we are too worried about what joe public thinks of us?
I haven't seen either of these films but regardless of that they ARE JUST FILMS!
They are not a political or social statement and believe it or not the cinema going public know this, no really they do, they have brains too you know?
They are far more likely to have their stereotypical view of bikers reinforced by some prat carving them up on his bike.
I spent over 10 years heavily involved in MAG(Motorcyle Action Group) in the UK and yes we did a lot and brought bikers rights into the political arena and made them sit up and take notice and after the animal rights movement the bikers rights lobby groups became one of the most respected because we comported ourselves professionally (not blowing things up probably helped as well)BUT I did not lose sight of the fact that I was a biker first and foremost and thats what I enjoyed the most and I didn't give a toss what joe public thought of bikers or me as long as I could go on doing that which I love.
It's very easy to get drawn into the mindset that says everthing we do reflects on bikers, no it does not, we are not the centre of everyone elses world, ordinary people do not have discussion groups about the 'biker threat' they are more concerned with their lives and what that consists of by and large is how much money they have, where they live, who their friends are and how much money they owe, bikers are just a sideline that they are aware of in a detached way be it' Wish I rode a bike' or 'I'm not letting that biker past' or complete indifference. To anyone who thinks we are the centre of attebtion I say this 'Get over yourselves and give your ego a rest and just go and ride your damn bike' after all, isn't that why we are all here?
Life is not a dress rehearsal!
on ya pete
Some issues with your logic...Joe Public holds more votes than us, therefore his opinion DOES COUNT....and we should be concerned about it.Originally Posted by PeteThePom

Reinforcing this image also does nothing to support a decreased focus on bikers by the legislating bodies - esp ACC.
Whilst I agree with your comments on the whole - you are neglecting to cater to the lowest denominator
It is interesting how, after both the F&F movies, boy racers got laws passed to prevent all sorts of issues....yet boys have been doing up cars.
Happy Day's didn't have this affect on the Government of the time?? Why, it was portrayed in a family manner.
I ask you a question.....as part of MAG...did the stunting on Torque have any place or need on the road???
There are idiots out there that will go and emulate the stunts featured in the movie.....which will then reflect on the biking community as a whole......
Just food for thought.....roll on increased ACC premiums I say
How about we all just enjoy the movie for a good giggle and ride our bikes safely and respsonsibly in the real world, and thus correct the images that are stereotyped onto us as bikers. Remember, people go to the movies to escape reality for a little while. Case in point, LOTR was a complete fantasy movie with no relavance to everyday life, but millions went and watcged it anyway. The movie screen and real life roads are a whole different kettle of fish
"Not one day that we are here on this earth has been promised to us, so make the most of every day as if it was your last, and every breath ,as if it were the same"
Torque because of 3 reasones
1- it actually had some decent un-f$@cked with bling bling bikes
2- Bikerboyz tried making it look hard to ride in a straight line and you could tell they wern't really pushing it.
3- A line from torque (probably will get it wrong so forgive me but) "what is it about driving cars that makes you such assholes" hahahahahah replayed that a couple of times
In TRON did they ride honda's
Oh yeh - if you really want to see bikes in the future, get out a MOvie called THX 1138
