    My mindset for city riding

Car drivers are all idiots. (Even the best ones do stupid things every now and then - don't let the stars align. I trust none.)
Always get to the front and go first. Find the gap.
He who hesitates is squashed. If you see a chance - take it.
Look and then look again. Both ways. Every time.
ALL vehicles - cause and effect - constantly scan.
Every car is going to change lanes at any moment.
Every car will exit the freeway by cutting directly across 2 lanes.
Some cheesedick will run the red.
    No car can see me.
Every vehicle might turn in front of me.
Never give the bastards the chance by going off guard for a split second.
Don't get angry - just get out of Denver.

Always have an escape route - when riding and when stopped at an intersection.
Don't ride in the middle of the lane, especially in the wet. This is where shitbuckets and English cars leak oil.
Be aware when lane splitting, some drivers take it personally and try to close the gap.

They ARE trying to kill you.
Lane splitting is safer than being rear-ended by some numb fuck.
    Use your indicators.
Flick your rear brake when engine breaking to let those behind know that you’re not just getting bigger, but closer.
Horns wear out if not used.
They are still trying to kill you.
Check all your lights at least once a week.
Get the best tyres you can.
Extra caution around taxis buses boy racers and people wearing hats.
Watch around schools, mummy hasn’t seen you.
4WD's, like trucks have shit vision, they haven’t seen you ether.
Pedestrians on side roads don’t look.
Never split next to parked cars, people open doors just for fun some days.
Mirrors snap off easily, next time they will look.
Still trying to kill or maybe just maim you.
    Let people in.
Never sit in a blind spot, learn where they are.
Use good gear, all the time.
LOOK! Use your eyes, turn your head, that is what your neck is for and if you don’t it could get broken.
    Your mirrors lie.
    Keep within your comfort zone.
    Have fun and relax!
We all have our little obsessions...

    • Learn how to safely emergency brake before you need too.
    • If a gap has appeared up front, expect an object to emerge cutting across your path.
    • Never filter near moving trucks/buses, wait for them to stop then go.
    • Watch out for padestrian islands, they block your path.
    • Watch out for cyclists in cycle lanes. They'll suddenly switch across traffic and end up directly in your filtering path without looking for you!
    • Watch out for cars heading in opposite direction turning down side streets - they'll semi-block your filtering path.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

No lane changing or turning without a "life saver" (look over your shoulder)......

definitely agree with the "they are out to get us"
last night coming home around 8pm, pulled into the dimly lit/ no light side street which leads to my street, going along this narrow one lane street at about 40km/h "OH SHIT BLACK CAGE COMING TOWARDS ME WITH NO LIGHTS ON" slam on the brakes and swerve into a gap between two parked cages, scared the absolute shit out of me, funnily enough he realised he didn't have his lights on and turned them on straight after he went past me

    (1) Everyone who is driving is a complete brain surgeon
    (2) If you cant see their mirrors, they cant see you
    (3) Old men in funny hats who drive old shit crates will make it their mission to own the road and bowl you off.
    (4) Old men in funny hats who drive old shit crates should have their licences torn up and used as a suppository.
    (5) Old men in funny hats who drive old shit crates often use their horns and shake their fists at you for no apparent reason other than the fact that you dared ride a motorcycle in their presence.
    (6) You should not approach old men in funny hats who drive old shit crates to ask what their problem is when they toot loudly at you as they're likely to have heart failure when you suggest that their licence should be torn up and used as a suppository on them along with their horn and their funny hat.

Sorry guys, bad experience on the weekend.

Well now thats off my chest, back to happy land.

No one can see you. All bikes have a cloaking device which cannot be disabled. Ride appropriately.

The police seem to have some sort of detector that can see through it though...

    City riding.

I agree with the "out to get you" theory. What I find scary these days are the amount of people running the rorange lights (amber which is very close to red). Its bloody dangerous trying to get off the mark quicker than some dick who thinks you want a race after filtering at the lights. I dont like to be first off at the lights anymore. Is it actually safer? Would it be better with a car or two in front to avoid random u-turns etc? A bloody loud horn is useful with cars changing lanes at the wrong time. Its funny making them jump.
