Depends on how tall the op is. I looked at a mortard, but wasn't so keen when having to lean off the bike to get my feet down, and happened apon some roadworks gravel!!

The 2 commuter, sports, touring bikes currently in our garage, 08 Kawasaki Z750 and 11 Suzuki GSR 750.
Both bloody good all rounders with Mrs Bergs GSR having over 60,000kms without issues.
She also rated the ER6 quite highly

I have a gas axe and a welder! What do you mean "it won't fit"?

    RE Running costs.
As a matter of interest I replaced the tail light bulb last month, first bulb in 150,000k though it goes through . So far since 1994 its blown the aforementioned and burnt out one rectifier. Its running costs are limited to usual consumables. Last valve clearance check was, er not sure, but around 1997 and never needed one since and of course no cam chain. It still has the original discs, wheel bearings etc

Get some fitness then. You shouldnt have weight on the bars on any bike. Sport bike your midriff holds you up.

Get a 900 Hornet then. Cheap power, good on gas, easy to get parts. They are a stupidly good commuter.

How cheap on gas spokes? Contemplated one,but the er6 was getting 23-24km/l when I owned it, better than most bikes over 400cc

CB900 is probably a little over 5L/100km, ie, worse than the ER6. Remember the Hornet engine traces back to the CBR900. If you want cheap on gas, the NC700 is around 3.3L/100km.

The Hornet's advantage is it's ridiculous reliability and flexibility. It has low down torque and can deliver at high revs too...

The Hornet is a lovely all round package. I'd love to commute on one, but I'd probably go full hooligan and flip it
And pretty sexy looking too (apart from those hugenormous cans)

That's why I went low mount, dropped 7kgs from up high. Economy improved also.

Now for sale if you want to buy it.

How are you finding the change to the VTR?
I'd rather a VTR myself, coz I am a poser. Unless ya want a GN and a Bandit
