    Eyeride - Head up display

Here is a show-reel of a project we are developing at university. Doesn't show the prototype as much as we would like because we are still fabricating the case! Everything else works though.

    Hope you enjoy.

Please take one for the team and end this project now...
This will only result in being part of an onboard tracking system used to enforce fines and road taxes by authorities...
They've already sucked in the trucking industry with the 'convenience" of electronic road user charges and slipped in defacto 24/7 GPS tracking with it that records every overspeed.
If you want to design something usefull how about some kind of heated helmet visor for antifogging. The shoei and other inserts are fine but once they are cold they will fog in extreme conditions like anything else will.

Good stuff guys! Is it a final year project for uni? I want to do something related to bikes for my final year project too as there seems to be a lot more areas for new improvements and ideas compared to cars (I'm a Be Mech student).
How do you plan to get the signals for your HUD from the bike?

PS R650R, that heated element idea would be pretty cool. I might look into it.

It's a Uni project dude, calm your socks

The indicators work by tapping into an indicator wire and then sending the signal via RF to the micro controller.

Great idea, I want one. I've been wondering when someone will come up with something like this, especially since Google glass became a thing.

Would like to see a little more info come up like revs or engine temp and maybe a simplified gps navigation (possibly just an arrow to denote next turn, like the indicator warning, but different enough to differentiate between them easily) but great start, I think you have the most important info already and to much would become distracting anyway.

need to fit bond style SMGs and sidewinders with voice activated release. as a bonus, the sidewinders could hang for a few seconds, giving your bike some rocket-power acceleration, before releasing from their cradles....

The tech I really want to see, is the display. That's what will make or break such a project, light adjustement for dark visor or nightime conditions, resolution, etc etc... Get it right and the requisite features on top of that will be a piece of piss, get it wrong and the will be of little relevance.

and fit explosives, to the unit. if the operator fucks up, doesn't give way, exceeds the posted speed limit, detonate.

And the germans said it was just a delousing shower too...

I can see manufacturers taking up this technology and selling ad space on our visors to google.

The only cool thing that I'd like is Retina scan anti theft hooked to bike ignition, anything else is just extra info that will detract from real riding.

Hi guys and well done with your school project.

Now I'm not an academic but HUD has been around since the early 1900's with the invention of the reflector scope, then the military aircraft industry took it to a new level in around 1958. In circa 1988 GM introduced it into some of their vehicle fleet and more recently affordable versions were available for motorcycle helmets. I hope you are not trying to reinvent the wheel I could of course be wrong.

From a riders perspective I personally like to know the state of my bike, position and its behaviours using the systems that come with the bike part of that includes scanning the environment etc. I trialled a reevu helmet and foud that simple technology a major distration to my riding.

My 5c worth and good luck I hope it goes well for you both.
