Ambulance got there fast huh! Actually it was posted here a couple of years ago.

Wouldn't say it's a Hi-viz fail either. I mean what can you do if the driver didn't see a cop bike parked on the road with red/blues flashing. Hi viz is pretty secondary in this case. Says a lot about the driver and nothing about hi-viz imho.

What a bizzare technique, traffic not even heavy enough to warrant the escort...

Would say the high vis worked great. That cage driver was totally fixated on it. Note the car turning with the biker dismounting the bike.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

If anything about hi-viz it show why it will never work. If three cars all head straight for all lights and siren cops bikes they aren't going to give a flying fuk about an average bike in a attractive jerkin.
Noted all the drivers had good lane discipline, they all stayed in lane 1 unless overtaking, wished kiwis could get their heads around that one.

Worse if it was the truck that hit him...but still pretty keen to sit in traffic like that.

How does that video illustrate that high visibility doesn't 'help'?

Looks to me like two numpty road users meeting unintentionally, and only one of them is wearing a police uniform...

Not sure. If the driver didn't see the flashing lights or the hi-viz, that might be an indication that people who place their faith in hi-viz are overly optimistic.

There was an accident in town this week where a woman in a car came out of a side street and T boned a Harley. "Didn't see you."
He definitely wasn't wearing hi-viz. Not a 1%er, but he could be mistaken for one, he had three headlights on, all to no avail.

The good news is that he's OK and someone has loaned him a bike while his is being repaired.
