What is it with some of the longer served residents on this site having a pop at someone that posts a topis for discussion that may have already been covered before?

First of all by discussing topics again new members get a chance to air their respective views, opportunities they obviously haven't had a chance to discuss in the past with like-minded people. Secondly, new opinions may be aired that may actually broaden some of the longer served members knowledge base and understanding of mbike issues (but I get a feeling one or two here wouldn’t dare admit it), and thirdly there will come a time when the number of topics we are allowed to post before being chastised by other members for failing to be original would result in posts such as "which flavour crisps are best served with beer" etc etc.

That is of course that there is a finite time limit on the amount of time that must pass before anybody is allowed to post a previously discussed subject.

Ok - so we all know that riding in flip flops and shorts is daft. But maybe someone may know of some Kevlar plated flip flops that may have just been developed.

By the way - the answer is salt and vinegar.

I remember when I did the Coca Cola riders course at Western Springs and the bloke there whipped out some pics and one was of some dicks foot who put it down while still moving in jandals and the rubber bit between big toe and first finger had split the metacarpals (tarsals?) right back to the ankle. Owwwwwww.

Poor ol Zed! everytime he opens his mouth he gets clobbered
Oh well there you every Forum needs a Zed? only one though!
One thing that confussed me is where all the jandel sporting surf shorted riders live? not around me thats for sure! It pissed with rain everyday bar two and I was too pissed to ride those days. anyone in shorts would have been wet and cold not!
If Summer dosnt erupt soon we should all move to Zeds Neighbourhood and where our Jandels and thongs and stuff!

    Self-quoting.Hmmmm....
Better not do that too much - might go blind...
Evidently, that mental image didn't stop people perpetuating this thread.
    Dang.

To which do you refer - the G-string, or the sunglasses?
    In fact, both are neither.
Probably lycra or silk, and plastic/polycarbonate/alloy.

Mebbe I should, to kill this thread properly.
Then again, it may cause chix (and, unfiortunately, weirdos) to flock to this thread, thus defeating the purpose...

I wouldnt exactly consider myself a long serving resident, but it does get annoying when there is the same old shit posted by new members who havent bothered to learn how to use the search function...

Sure it is great that the views get refreshed every now and again, and that the new threads arent prohibitively long, but if you want to go back and find some information on say, peoples views on leather/textiles, there will be heaps of threads saying the same thing over and over again, taking up webspace, costing $$$ and eventually slowing the website down.

It might not be too much of a problem now, but with the rate that the site was (is?) growing at, it may well be soon.

Maybe it is just me getting carried away on a fledgling hobby horse, but it pisses me off when people cant be bothered looking for the information themselves in any situation... Too much asking and being told leads to an ingrained way of finding information which isnt necessarily the best to follow. In uni, being able to sort/sift through texts and extract the relevant info is a priceless skill, and it amazes me when I see the number of people who cant see the infromation in the book in their hands, but if you state verbatum what the book states, suddenly they understand...

on posting that, I am reminded that threads like this which suddenly veer off topic dont help those who may finally get around to searching for some particular info...

For what it is worth, I have two sets of kit, one for cold and the other for warmer weather (following the unfortunate incident when I started cooking inside my kit! Look here for the full, unfortunate tale. )

The warm weather stuff is Hood jeans (similar to Draggin), a fairly light Rayven jacket (though I want to see if I can get a really light jacket at the bike show at Alexandra Palace at the end of the month). Same lid, gloves and boots (Arai RV, Hein Gericke Psyko and Bering Duke II respectively).

Cold weather stuff - substitute waterproof, cold-proof (the removable ally lining is amazingly good) trousers and jacket from Bering.

OK, I may get caught out in the rain now and again in the rather leaky Summer jacket, but at least I don't cook this way!
