Heads up on lower speed limit on Old North Road to Helensville

Guys, for AKL riders there are a load of painted '80's on the road along Old North Road, but no speed limit signs yet. Keep an eye out as no doubt there will be signs going up soon, reducing the open road limit to 80 and the police patrol the road quite heavily

And make sure you keep to the left of the dotted white line painted down the middle, and yield appropriately at marked intersections. Painted markings on roads. What will they think of next?

Looked to be a change between Riverhead and Peak, but guess the signs will be up soon to confirm ... if this saves someone a ticket then job is done.

Still riding every day :-) and loving it

Cool, Sharry is having surgery today. Hope to make the next track day. Few mods have been done. You should pop round for a coffee sometime when your near.

Probably not a bad idea given the amount of vehicles that struggle to stay on their side of a twisty road trying to do 100 when a lower speed would be better.
Looks like they have a few under review:

I suppose as Auckland expands due to everyone wanting to live here we will see more of this.

Probably means they will raise the speed limits in other places as they become deserted.

aucklanders ruin that road. And everywhere else they go. The fuken morons still drive into each other at 80.
Followed a truck with an 8t excavator on deck through the forest the other day. Was still doing 100 at the top by the gun club.

Only one road? your lucky. The fascists at Hasting district Council have unleashed a tsunami of 80k zones on just about every decent rural road in HB other month... think was about 28 roads affected...

    Lame.

I guess this goes with the ridiculous amount of yellow paint they put next to the forest to stop people overtaking on a clear stretch of road, for no good reason whatsoever.

All that yellow paint has succeeded in doing is making me take more of a risk to hurry to get past people before getting stuck behind Joe Bloggs who likes driving at 30km/h below the limit. Instead of just cruising past at a safe opportunity.
