You don't need an authentic old bike to go classic racing, just build a replica , no one will notice.

Yep, most of them are replicas and the powers that be even ban or move the some of the genuine ones out of classes that they were previously eligible for...how the hell is that fair?

As far as this Zuki is concerned...race the bloody thing, that's what it was built for. If it gets trashed, rebuild it. It looks to me that that's what has happened to it anyway, it's obviously been rebuilt or restored, and by the looks of it to a good standard. Like I've always said "if it has been made by man, it can be remade by man". Never stopped me racing or wearing out my old bangers.

i doubt theres a single racebike in the world thats is exactly as it was first produced unless it was never started

racebikes by their very nature get modified to go faster, to handle better, rebuilt as they wear out, repaired after crashs, changed to suit different riders, restored because of age etc

    thats life

btw i see no reason this bike couldnt be raced, if i was going to i would drop out the 1000 engine drop in a 1200cc plus 8 valve (rules are different now to then) and have a ball while preserving the GS1000R engine

    ozman

or i could dust this one off

why bother with 1200cc, wouldn't you be better to fit better sized rims?
do you have the tailpeice that was used at the isle of man?

because every period 5 bike here seems to be 1200 or bigger and yes its stating the obvious that a switch to 17 inch wheels would be the go if one was serious

    That is an absolute fact.
I am currently doing a full resto on Kasper, the ex Bill Biber K100rs that raced in the 80's.
By far the most difficult part was deciding what era to build it to.
As of now I have not turned up two pictures of the bike that show it exactly the same.

I can send you two pictures of it that show it exacatly the same, but that's probably because they were only taken about a minute apart

do what i did and picked a day it ran and restored my bike to that , as luck would have it some time later some posters turned up of that very day, and the very same leathers which were only ever used twice then put away.

Small correction, 2nd Suzuki McIntosh built (not second McIntosh).....there were from what can recall about 9 TZs, and probably 2-3 kawasakis built before that plus the Vincent etc.

$60k guys. In the big scheme is a big number, but in reality of this stuff, very realistic...if you want to build a big Suzuki f1 style postie race bike, that's the number you would expect to pay and not have any of the history.

Osman, hope you get the price and a kiwi buys it.

I hope they then use it or put a good rider on it.
