Naff off mate - my first bike as a red CB200 $600 a zillion years back - nice set of cocktail shaker mufflers. Fark I was cool. Loads of fun as a first bike, learnt heaps doing oil/filter changes, adjusting valve clearance thru that wee hole, camchain adjustment, brake replacement and adjustment.

Fond memories. Couple been on TM this year for reasonable coin in tidy condition.

You need to reference them to the period not the current day.

C'mon mate they were crap when they were new, now they're just older crap. I wouldn't take one if it was free in perfect condition, take me too long to dig that big a hole in the paddock to dispose of it.

YUP I put the CB175 as one of the all time best learner bikes, quick for a 4T 175, almost unbreakable (the amount of abuse learners threw at them) and very forgiving to ride....

Now if a really nice earlier CB160 came up for sale?? THAT'S the collectable one in my book!

...and why they were built and for what market...do the knockers of certain models or brands think that their personal opinion makes one fucking iota of difference...the sales numbers of these little beauties and the twins surely is the testament to the truth...fucking hell, was every model ever rolled of a line built for going balls out or for being sporty...I dont think so...the reliability and commuter aspect of motorcycles is far more important to probably more riders than those who have, 'the need for speed'...

...Battle of the 350's at Methven, Pre '72 ... CB350 F, Kwaka 350 Triple, CB350 and an SL350...we were not going to catch the two Bonnies but no other bikes could catch us either...not a lot of engine work done on any of the 350's, my F only breathes easier and drinks a little more than a standard one...whatever floats yer boat really, innit...

...I broke the sound on my camera at Greymouth in an off and had to put some You Tube shit over it...very dramatic...

I enjoyed that video, thanks. But how come they are allowed in Pre 72 ? Weren't they 72 to 74? Plus there were no S2s in NZ pre 72 either

...right then...I'm off to the, I Cheated thread, forthwith...lucky there are no sashes for fourth and fifth then...CAMS the club who run Methven are more into evenly matched fields and are more into the fun of it all. The crowd isnt there to see a 72 CB350F and an S2 swamped by GS1000's in '82...sensible really...

No need for the hair shirt and self flagellation Neil - the cutoff date is Oct 30 1972 and the 350/4 was in production and selling prior to that...and examples produced post that date are covered by the continuation clause 25 - 1 -(c).

But yes, CAMS do duck about a bit with eligibility to even things up and make a better and safer show. And a very good thing too...
