I would seriously look at it first or get someone to do it for you

oh and is there anyone in nelson that wants to go and take it for a test ride and take a look at it for me?
haha yeah was just asking thatOriginally Posted by Sniper

I would just ask the usual, does it use oil, check if it blows smoke when you take it for a test-ride (giving it a thrash too see).
Check the tyres for cracking, what condition is the battery in.
Looks okay and reasonable value going by the advert (hard to really tell though of course).
I believe the motors are fairly tough if looked after.
Cheers

thanks, i've just sent him a pm, what do you need to look out for with the zxr400's? he say's he's putting a new battery in it. and a newish rear but front needs replaced soonish, i don't mind replacing tyres it's just engine work i would rather steer clear of

Will have more go than your VT!
If the budget allows try and get both tyres together as mismatching them can caus problems.
We all have our little obsessions...
could you just go and look at it for cosmetic damage, give it a big rev and see if it sounds rattly, then ask the guy if he'll ride it in front of you and just observe any strange noises (if there are any) i'll be up in nelson at the end of the year with any luck but this will have probably sold by then, so if you could do that i'd really appreciate it, or even better (just had a thought) do you know anyone else up there who would be keen to take it for a bit of a thrash?
thats almost impossible to do unless you've got a fortune to spend on tyres, as the rear wears out approxamately twice as fast as the front, so every second time you'd be replacing them at the same time, which reminds me, the vt needs a new front tyre, more money going out, how much do you reckon a good arrowmax front would be for a vt250f?Originally Posted by myvice
At the very least buy matched tyres, don't have random manufacturers and models front and rear. It is best policy to change both at the same time though.Originally Posted by gamgee
