Mrs Oakie didn't expect it either. Parked at the local mall for 20 minutes. Van pulls up by the bike ... open the back door, two dudes pick the bike up, throw it in the van and drive away. Obviously just a target of opportunity and fortunately caught on camera. They were flogging Kawasaki 250s as the engines went into many models. Bit different with the 300 though. Good luck with it.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have my suspicions but I don't have anything concrete so there's very little I can do about it. There was construction going on for weeks in the plot right next to the house, even had a construction worker knock on the door and ask if the bike was for sale a few weeks ago when I wasn't there. But that's really all I have

Well there you go, that's a lead right there. My shed was broken into not long after scummy neighbour finally said hello and chit chatted enough to know my hours etc...
Just because someone has a job doesn't mean they aren't a theif or connected to those who are.
My bikes are never parked in the driveway anymore, always straight around to back of house out of sight. Anyone dodgy that knows me who I run into gets told its a mates bike, just looking after it for him etc...
Teach family and flatmates not to give out any personal info to people that knock at door.

Problem is, the only thing she remembers is he was a big maori/pacific islander typical construction worker kit, and drove a nondescript van. She didn't think anything of it so she didn't bother remembering any details outside of that. The whole suburb is one big construction site so there are construction workers all over the place driving nondescript vans

Was this your first bike? If you had a previous bike insured most insurance companies offer between 14 - 30 days of automatic cover on a new vehicle..

Jiro, wouldn't hurt to put an ad on TM etc in the wanted section for a bike like yours and , rather than say you want to buy exactly your bike's description, broaden it a little but say you'd prefer a Kawasaki *** 300 or similar, use you own words, you won't catch a fish if you don't have your hook in the water. Might be interesting what turns up especially for a relatively rare bike like yours. Just a thought.

You have the chassis/engine numbers I hope ?

I do, bought it brand new from dealership so I have complete paperwork. That's not a bad idea, might actually do that, thanks for the tip!
