Probably not, but some employers will rely on the fact that spotty faced kids probably don't know that...Originally Posted by Calo

Ahh, the old public drowning ploy aye? Let me guess, if they drown they're guilty?Originally Posted by number33
Yes I have heard of similar clauses in employment contracts. Even if the employee agrees to this the managment would be in breach of the 'good faith' clauses in the Act. In this instance, an act of good faith would require mangnment to convey to the employee that they are not liable in law for loss of revinue due to customers not paying. Since the employee has been informed of his rights in respect of the subject under discussion, he or she is not likely to sighn any agreement where they are liable for this loss. Hope that makes sense.Originally Posted by bumsex

No. If they drown they're NOT guilty. If they float it's because the water is rejecting them, and you either chop their heads off or burn them at the stake/Originally Posted by Brains

The margin on petrol is pretty small. Auntiie Helen makes the most of it, and the Seve Sisters the rest. Petrol station margins are around 4-4.5c/litre. That is pretty thin, and you have to sell a lot of gas to pay for the $100 that just drove down the road. In addition, a lot of people pay with credit cards or eftpos. Off that margin comes the visa commission of (IIRC) 3%ish, so if you pay by credit card, they make no money at all.
if the garage owner wanted me to pay for drive-offs, they could take their job and I would go flip some burgers instead.

When I was living in Auckland, I went to the petrol station on a payday, filled up, got back in the car and waited for my partner to come out. He got in the car and we drove to Hamilton. Along the way I asked ''did you pay for the gas?'' He replied ''no, did you?'' I said ''no'' and we both looked at each other said ''oops'' and continued on our way. The next day I went in to the same petrol station that I had gone into the day before and told the guy ''I came in yesterday and filled my car but forgot to pay.'' I knew it cost me $70 to fill (from previous times) so I paid the guy $70 and left.

on a scale, worldwide, we still pay bugger all to fill, me about $35 from reserve. but see what it is doing to the price of littlies 250cc or less, they have gone up on average of $500 in the last month
