    Pinching petrol, common hands up...

Seems to be a few people 'protesting' about the price of petrol by simply refusing to pay - still getting their weekly fill up of course. Don't think it would be that hard to do, especially at a busy petrol station. Soooo, has anyone entertained any thoughts of taking up this line of protest?

My better half just started working at the BP down the road. So far she has seen 6 fill and runs. The manager said it used to only be about 1 a week when prices were $1.20 ect.

It won't be long until every pump is Pre-pay which will suck. Stealing is stealing.

Okay so it cost me 23 bucks to fill up with 96oct yestersay. Doesn't seem to be any point to risk it for 23 bucks. Can see a point for cage drivers that might fill up in the region of 70 to 100 bucks worth, but can't condem it - it would only make life worse for the rest of us. The last thing i want is some spotty oik filling the bike for me, and spilling fuel over the tank and scratching the paint, while i pay at the counter.

So far I have only seen this Pre-Pay method once, and I have decided that I will NOT patronise Service Stations that require Pre-Pay.

My reasons are that the one time I did visit a service station that requires Pre-Pay, they wanted me to leave my fuel card in their care while I filled my bike. Now no matter how much management may trust their staff with my fuel card, the only person I'm prepared to trust with it is ME. I am very uncomfortable with leaving fuel cards, credit cards or Eftpos cards with other people.

I am quite happy to leave my keys or even my helmet with them while I fill up, but NOT my cards.

i used to know someone who made a fake plate from laminated paper, stuck it on the car and went to diffenet gas stations and filled up and drove away, they got round the corner or down the road and took it off. its a good idea if your a criminal, can't say i condone it but i do understand it. I would love to fill up and fuck off, but its just not worth the risk and as has been said, steeling is steeling.

most petrol companies have a cctv camera on each pump... itll either pick off your plate or your face...

... not worth the risk really.

although it cost my workmate $90 to fill his subaru up yesterday, id hate to think what it costs some of the bigger cars!

Unfortunately, this hits the station proprietors in the wallet, and has minimal effect on the Gang of Four. The station owners have already had their margin squeezed by the Gang of Four cutting it back to maximise their own profits.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

It would be stealing and not from the petrol companie but from the servicestation owner and i don't really think its his (or her) fault.

But now that the crude prises have come down ...... there might be hope. Though i must say it has been good as i think it has cleared up the roads some.

I think Gull would be the place to go to fill these days as they are generaly "hiking" later then the big four and BP normaly leads the way

Don't be an ass and steal.
