Halfway through corner I encountered a sky blue Ford Falcon - as you do. Finding car/truck parked on both sides near the entrance, it become quite narrow.

Knew braking was out because that would've resulted in a low side crash for sure and up righting for heavy braking wasn't too good considering that'll put me right into their path. So I just lent the bike over further, counter steered and popped up in my new tighter path.

During the lean, foot hit the road hard and forced an up gearshift - gave me a fright actually but kept a cool head. Talking about seriously lugging the engine. FXR motors don't like being in 5th at 3,000rpm. Doubt any part of the bike touched the road surface because heard nothing and can't find any scratches.

So how low did I go?

Personally think quite low. If it had gone any lower, something solid would've hit and game over. This then would've been a "how to claim insurance post?”

Felt totally in control throughout the entire movement, including during my little brush with the road. Thought there was plenty of lean clearance leftover from previous foot and mouth road encounters, but err this time there wasn't and I've never had one force a gear shift before either!

check out the chicken strips on the rhs and lhs of your rear tyre. if there is none left then you know you were just about there.

A good survival, well done!! Did your jocks stay clean? - or did you have to change them 'cos of the 'skid mark'?

3,000rpm in 5th? = about 112kph on my bike!!

Its a bit scary when your foot hits the ground, when you lean lift your toes up on the peg its good practise.
Dont worry to much about scrapn the pegs on the road (if at all possible on an FX) you'll need to get some serious wieght on them before the bike tips because they move.

Had a quick look and there are no more chicken strips on the lhs front wheel. Rhs still has them and both sides had them last month. Must've been close.
Rear tyre too hard to get at with all the other bikes parked around it.

Always aim to stay rubber side up and I'm very happy to have survived this one. Have seen the race boys start scratching foot pegs and sometimes it's all over shortly there after.

Didn't have to change my undies after this one. Took it on the chin. Happened to quickly. It was like a quick touch and go bounce off the road.

Never in a rush so was doodling along slowly at the time. It's nice to know how much grip tyres can give without any feel of slip sliding away. Will still ride like a super-nana when wet, have nearly became bug splat three times on the rear of vehicles so keep a 5 second following distance now.
