The Stratford to Whangamomona section is in pretty good nick as of today. A few places where slips have been cleaned up since last sunday, and some single lane sections on the western side of the Whanga saddle where there has been washouts. There was some fine scenery at the pub.
Followed a DRZ back until he ran out of fuel (pushing too hard), topped him up & took Beconsfield, Salisbury, Tariki, Kaimata and Junction roads back to Inglemud.

Watch out at the railway crossings as it is still a live railway, but used by these guys http://www.forgottenworldadventures.co.nz/ and not KiwiRail trains.

Law has it the rail still has right of way when a rail vehicle is approaching and is within 800 metres of the crossing http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/p...DLM435650.html

Even though they are hi-railed golf carts running through there, legally they have right of way. Take care.
    Cheers

The etiquette of the Rail carts is to stop short at all crossings with a passenger walking up to the road before crossing. They are not operating very often at this time of the year. Most crossings have very good visibility on the approaches and still have compulsory stops that few obey for obvious reasons.
