    Take photos, lots of photos

I'm feeling bloody old after trolling through some old photo albums.
    Does anyone remember photo albums?

We were talking about some '80s bike and I said "hang on a mo" I've got a photo of one I owned at the time. Man what a time warp. I won't mention the bike but it front of it, looking all '80s like is some 17 year old. Mrs 2smokes informs us it's me. (insert howls of laughter)

The point is, it's a great way to spend some time with mates and a beer or two, looking through tragic old photos. I think we've lost this to electronic storage devices. I'm going to start printing photos again.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

AT2 or CT2 - in 1972 I had a CT2. This is summer 1977, I'm 23 and trying to figure out what's wrong with the Rickman. With no multimeters in those days, it was hard to pick there was a half short in the zener diode, it was only putting out 6 volts. Only do gooders had short hair back then, and I wasn't a nice little do gooder.

Sandwiched between Kattenberg and Josiah, I won.

The mighty KX250, below Newlands dump, Wellington. Called it the jump to nowhere, all one could see on the approach was Wellington harbour.

I watched a guy almost kill himself up there when he jumped off the ramp that lead up on to the main track.... hang time was huge with a flat landing.

17 with an RZ500?! Who paid for that? I could barely afford a shagged XR250A. (Picture not scanned but imagine a skinny kid with a permed Bono 80s mullet and a Stranglers Feline T shirt astride such a machine ).

That newlands track brings back memories but on the CT125 I never dared leave the ground.

    Scan them pics.
Quite a coincidence that I have just spent this evening showing one of my grandson's my bike pics from The Beginning (my first bike ) on the big screen. I have all my pics scanned and the computer is connected to my big tv screen so we were able to sit and talk about each pic. The mouse was handy as a pointer as we discussed various attributes of the different bikes.

Another time I will be able to show him family archive photos of the first bikes in the family. We have all ready had the chat about drum brakes (on my first bikes) and disc brakes.

I nearly got killed on that jump one day. At the time there was a rugged staircase above that jump that kept pretty much everyone else out, then it got bull dozed and everyone could get back up it. I was trying to get everyone to do a loop to avoid head on's and as I approached that jump I slowed right down to peek over the edge and the last thing I saw was two bikes abreast coming up at me, wammo I was shoved back 30 meters and knocked out for 1/2 an hour and got a free ambo ride.

I sold a RG250 and a rm125, and my parents guaranteed the rest in a loan (It's "only" a 500 Dad! ), so I paid for it in the end. It was one of the original 20 short pipe models that came in 1st. It only had 800 km's on the clock. The 1st owner had ridden big bore 4 strokes for years and did not like the lack of torque, so I swooped on it...awesome bike, sooooo much character!

Here is another one, Bay park early 90's.

Ha, the Yamaha helmet. A mate had one. Same mate has an RZ500 in his lounge room. USDs, nikons Banana arm etc. on going project of well about 15 years or more and he's had it since it wasn't that old. I had a 750SP, not quite the kudos of the earlier OW.
