How fast do you ride on the open road?

Seems to me that there is a bit of as falaicy (sp?) about how fast riders go on a bike. My wife comments on bike riders (including myself) about how they have to go everywhere at 100mph. Funny thing is I don't. I rarely cane it, only when I really want to be somewhere like 5 minutes ago.

But I am talking about everyday riding. Say its sunday afternoon and the weather is good. All is happy with the world. You look at your speedo. What does it say?

Be honest now and lets ignore all those who want to preach about speeding kills and the like.

For me it is about 115k/hour. Every now and then I look at the speedo and remember my massive ammount of speeding fines and slow to 100 for about 2 minutes till I relax again and find myself doing 115 again.

I must admit, I do ride the speed limit, but my GZ250 battles to go any faster than 100kph, downhill I can get to 110, but I get too nervous after that and slow down to 100 again (I can hear the cries of "Nana" from all the other bikers right now)

Bit of a noob on a noob bike but I would say 110km/h. If I was on a bigger bike (ie much easier to speed) it might be a touch more. For me its all about the acceleration and enjoying the cheap thrills .

I Generally cruise around 120 but it depends on my mood and road conditions, sometimes more sometimes less.
Life is difficult because it is non-linear.

After being stuck at 70k for so long, I'm just happy to cruise around at 100. I leave the speeding for the track

Around 100-120 depending on the mood. Tend to stick to back country roads these days. Not in a hurry to get anywhere fast. 90kph when I'm with my Ducati riding freind

All depends on my mood and how awake i am to how i ride, on my way to work it's spiltting the traffic, so not that fast, on my home late at night (1am) it's wheelies on every straight bit of motorway 100-230kph - traffic depending of course, on a weekend ride it's pretty quick and depends on who i'm riding with to how fast i'm going, mostly it's cruise on the straights 160-180kph and blast it in the twisty's, like i said depends on who i'm riding with and where to the speeds i travel.

But i save my most for the track which i try and get to twice a month when the $$$$ allows.

    oh dear

My lil bike is happiest at about 120-130. And when there's a long straight and no traffic....well let's just say that I know that my speedo stops at 180.

Open road is normally quite technical, so I take it a bit slower than motorway (which is mainly straight and easy) at around 70-80kph.

Why, 100kph of course. That's the speed limit, aint it.

But , on closed roads (well, I tell them to close them for me, and assume the do as I tell them. If it works for Helen ..) Ratty likes to settle in around 120, and the Whale around 130 - 140. Always, of course, assuming that I am confident Mr Plod is elsewhere engaged,

Most NZ roads, much faster means working hard .

Of course there are some roads where it would be an offence aginst the biker gods not to open up a bit.Or maybe two bits.

And the occasions when some nice person offers to go ahead at a nice speed and clear Mr Plod out of the way.

And the occassions when the bike just seems to be running SO well.
