    Roundabouts...

and the clowns who use them.

A lifetime of cautious entry into roundabouts paid off this morning when a young gentleman of foreign persuasion decided he didn't need to give way to a motorcycle in his way (me).

The red mist descended and I followed him up the road. Came to a red light - pulled up beside him and politely tapped on his window. Winds it down. Conversation something like this:

"What the fuck were you doing at that roundabout?"
    "Huh?"
"You would have run right into me if I hadn't been able to stop!"
    "Huh?"
    "Did you look?"
    "Huh?"
"Did you get your licence from a weetbix packet then didja?"
    "Huh?"
    "Oh fuck off then..."

    Played dumb really well...

So you have a near miss then risk a roadrage charge/verbal assault??? Best to just let it go unless your willing to do the full monty on him...

Anyone see that one on aussie show the Force other night, that Syrian dude got locked up for banging his car door on that SUV. I really thought the cops should have told the SUV guy to FO as well, the CCTV showed he deliberately cut off the guy, which although the other guy was que jumping is still avoiable provocation and using your vehicle as a weapon.

...I used to wait for a bunch of boys who would drive up from Horsham and Godalming, they would park up off the A3 and I would take them into a job we were on in Battersea, London...the roundabout I waited near had about as many vehicles using it at rush hours as probably as many cars exist in Chch or more...in the months I waited there, I never saw a vehicle touch another one and only very occasionally would one come to a complete stop...I reckon that it's just slack useless driving skills that seem to be encouraged here...starting with giving anyone who wants to drive, a crack at it, by giving them a licence...it's not only foreign drivers who are useless, either...

I lived Kapiti for 10 yrs and the amount of old fucks in their little Hatchbacks lacking knowledge of road rules was amazing.

When I was riding my learner 250 I came off at a roundabout one day when the road was damp. The car entering at my 3 o'clock had it's left indicator on, and I assumed it was turning left going up the road I was coming down. I went towards entering the roundabout, then saw that they had their left indicator on because they were angling left into the roundabout in order to drive half way around it to exit on the other side.

I braked, but fell foul of the painted give way line and slowly went down. From now on I slow and watch anyone on or near a roundabout before I enter it. There's some numpties out there in cars.

Round a bouts....Well shit. I just love that the fucking council or whoever the fuck makes the decisions decides to plant fucking plants and advertising or whatever crap at perfect "indicator level". So at only the last second you can actually see their indicator....Now that's only on the 1% ..ok fine 50% or whatever chance that people actually use these indicator things.
It's not just that though, it's people who are on the outside lane of a two lane round 'a' bout that think they can go round it and not exit at the first or second exit so the poor biker on the inside lane going straight gets cut off.

I had a good look at him first (up quite close actually).

Besides, I'm too old for road rage.
