If anyone is really that interested they'll look up the VIN to find out what model year it is. I've got a '97 Ducati that was first rego'd in 2000, which actually makes a difference to a few details, seller advertised it as such so all good.

To add fuel to the fire, it's resale value will be close to 60% of what you pay for it, inside 24 hours of the purchase.

Maybe a few percent more if you learn to use apostrophes.

I love this bullshit, which I think started with the Yanks always saying something is next year's model when to me, if it is released this year, it is this year's model.

If the 2014 model is a whole bunch cheaper right now and there is no difference technically to the falsely named 2015 model then I'd say buy the cheaper one. In a year or two no one will care when you come to sell it whether it is a year different or not, it will be the kms travelled and the condition it is in that will dictate the resale, which we know by then will be a whole lot less than you paid no matter which one you buy.

A basic bike is not an investment and depreciation bites hard but that money pays for your fun and transport.
    Cheers

No typo. It's all over Facebook, first pics out today expected to go on sale, I think, about the middle of next year.

That's getting silly then. People must be getting as excited about next year's model as they do when a new iphone is about to be released. Consumerism at its best.

It's kinda like KTM as well, the 2015 models should be available shortly (if not already).

I'm waiting for a few more years. If they continue to keep bring out models earlier and earlier, you should be able to get the 2020 model in late 2017

there are 3 dates that apply
    • date of first registration anywhere in the world. This is the date that matters
    • date of manufacture - ie when he bike was built, and
    • model year

It is possible that all 3 could be different.

My bike is a 2006 model year, built in late 2005 but first registered in Oct 2007.

This all looks very complicated. I'da thunk the only date that really mattered was the one on the rego sticker - unless there was obviously something awry.

Sorry, but no way you can justify a 2016 tag on a model released late 2014. It is wrong.

Maybe Harris could have used something like that in his defense - I gave her my phone number when she was 15 your honor and I asked her to contact me when she was of legal age .........

I may have been a little hasty here. I went back and re-read the posts. At this stage they have only released teaser pics. Expected 'release' date is late 2015.

Personally I'd be dubious about buying "next years" bike, regardless of make or model. Why would you want to own a 2015 when you can already crash it in 2014?
