Hmmm, the thing is, I don't mind the 3 liner system from a slightly different view. Yes, it's shite for the depths of winter type rain, as the outer shell gets soaked, the liner doesn't really stand up to heavy stuff, and now thermally, you're screwed. However, for that stuff, I'd use my Rukka coz it lets nothing through (even tested in 16-20 hours of rain).

For a regular go-to suit however, the Rukka is way too expensive and hot to wear adv riding and I'd die in hot summer weather trying to wear it (for all 1 month of hot summer weather we get...). My normal process there is to use the Rev'it, throw a cheap rain jacket over the top and it's pretty good. Only problem is you do sweat inside the rain jacket as it's not breathable and on the outer layer of the bike jacket, however, rain stops, take off jacket and you dry out fast.

I do struggle to believe how a goretex jacket, great for winter rain, will breathe enough for adv riding. If it does, then hell, it sounds perfect

If it's got enough vents I don't see breathability per se being an issue. That's my theory anyway

Haha, maybe on your 250... On my tank it's a bit harder and a bit slower, unless I twist the throttle - then it's just plain

I had been considering the Rev-It Sand gear but in the end I'm about to bite the bullet and commit the $$$$ to the Klim Badlands gear.
I'm tired of having to put a liner in or jacket over (done both ways with various jackets and pants) when the rain comes and I believe the venting in this stuff will be adequate. I also have it on good authority from friends using the Klim gear that when the vents are closed the water stays out as it is supposed to.

Having an official Klim distributor to get it direct from here in town helped with my final decision too.
Only down side is it's price is getting like I may end up sitting at home with flash gear but no gas money for a while

Well if you do make the purchase I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

    Oh and Gremlin, don't be size-ist ;-)

    Have you tried BMW gear?
I have the Rallye 3 which suits me, 3 season gear.
    There maybe other styles.
However range is always limited in nz.

    fairly recent

I got a pair of Rev'it pants from Motomail 2 years ago. Ridden through a storm - proper one with thunder, lightning and gusting winds. Stayed dry thanks to the waterproof liner, had to stick them in the dryer once I got off the bike though. Got a second hand near new Rev'it jacket since then. Both seem great. Without the thermal and water proof liners it doesn't get hot in summer. I can see a few good years wear in them yet.

Blind ass me, I didn't realize this was the adventure section. Rev'it is good for commuting/general riding. Don't think it'll handle adventure riding too well, not the stuff I have and have seen.

Yeah, range is limited, sizing is unknown. Also kinda a case of better the devil I know. Also, recently BMW lost the rights to produce goretex gear (to Rev'it actually). That said, if I couldn't get what I wanted, then yes, I'd consider. However, owning a BMW, I don't want to be that rider.

It is in the adventure section as I'm specifically looking at the adventure range. Not interested in leather, hybrids of leather etc. Rev'it has a nice range of adventure related gear, but has far too many options, with no easy way to seemingly drill down through it (like specify you want a long connection zipper on textile and it gives you the available options).

Ok, did some digging if anyone is interested, here's my take on the goretex jackets. I think I've got them in sort of year range order.

    Revit Jackets

Poseidon GTX (2013) - replaced Everest
    Magnetic fasteners, Superfabric
    Non-removable Goretex
    Removable thermal liner
    Long + short connection

Chronos GTX (2013) - replaced Turbine
    Front is mesh, less pockets
Goretex liner is also a soft shell jacket
    Long + short connection
Pairs to Neptune and Poseidon pants

Neptune GTX (2013) - replaced Legacy
    More features than Legacy
    Removable Goretex + thermal liner
    Long + short connection

Everest GTX (2011 top of range)
    Commuter-touring
    Armacor, SAS-Tec Armour
    Non-removable Goretex
    Removable thermal liner
    Long + short connection

Defender GTX (2010 still in range and below Poseidon?)
    Adventure Jacket
    Superfabric, SAS-Tec Armour
DWR coating on outer shell for water
    Removable Goretex + thermal liner
    Long + short connection

    Legacy GTX (2010)
    Touring
    Removable Goretex + thermal liner
    Short connection only

    Nevada GTX (end of line?)
    Touring
    Knox Armour
    Removable Goretex + thermal liner
    Short connection only

Just bought a Defender GTX 2XL Jacket on closeout from Revzilla, US$399. Interestingly, they aren't allowed to ship Rev'it internationally any more.

So now I've also signed up to Youshop

I'm out of luck for 2XL Long pants tho

I've had some good experience with Rev'it stuff on Adv rides.
I had one jacket for almost a year and told the dealer that there was a small problem with some stitching and I didn't think it was as water proof as it should be, it was replaced at no charge! This was despite the fact that I had two big offs wearing said jacket and it showed...

I don't think I'll go Rev'it again tbh. I've already mentioned the large tear around the knee from walking into the foot peg, I was pretty surprised how easily and how far that tore. Then a couple weeks back the plastic buckle of the waist adjuster came off in my hand off whilst I was adjusting it. On closer inspection it was held in place with just two stitches. Neither incident fills me with confidence the gear would hold up well in a slide down the road.

Earlier this year I had to send my jacket away for repair when the zip on one sleeve cuff got snagged so badly on the mesh underneath it tore the mesh, and still refused to free itself. This has also happened on the other sleeve now. Not great design from that viewpoint.
