New to NZ. Some trail routes?

    Hey fellas

I'm new to Pukekohe, having moved to NZ 12 moths ago. Dying to get out on some trails. Have a KTM 450 and like to ride trails....

Not sure whether bike has to be road reg to ride trails? Any advice really appreciated..

The bike doesn't have to be road registered (unless you're riding it there on the roads).

As for trial rides, check out silverbullet.co.nz for events near you, or have a look at Mr. Motorcycles (the Kawasaki dealer), they organise a few trial rides around the area.

See the guys at mr motorcycles, they are a ktm dealer as well now,

Nearly All of the staff in there ride ride off road, and will be able to tell you where the bike parks are, and they run one of em be bigger trail ride series though the the summer months,

If you are looking for on road stuff, look at the maps out towards port Waikato, and then the road though to waikertu , awesome gravel roads thought that area,

Hi there, I am originally from South Africa and have recently been down the same path as you.

I live up in St Johns, Auckland and have only made it up to 'The Sandpit' a few times so far.
I plan to visit Thundercross bike park which is just around the corner from you, check out their website www.thundercrossvalley.co.nz
Or alternatively you could head up to 'The Sandpit' www.thesandpit.co.nz but to be honest I am not a huge fan of riding in so much sand.
I didnt grow up riding in the sand so its hard work and not good for your bike either so keen on finding better places to ride.
Another place I have heard of that is worth a look is 'Kimmys Farm' in Huntly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJwpBwMd7j4

But the crowd at Mr Motorcycles are really helpful and organize a few good rides so also a good starting point.

See you down there one day.

    Cheers

Definitely is. It was my favourite bike park when it was Kimmys but the new owner is putting a lot of effort into looking after and developing the place and it's definitely paying off. Generally just the mx track open at the moment, but as the weather improves the enduro loop will be opened again and it's a cracker.
