I'd consider the maintenance cost, and insurance fee of whatever bike I'd buy in the economical side of things. Otherwise I'd highly suggest just getting any bike that gives you the strongest, longest hard on, and then ride that thing till kingdom come.

    Welcome.

Scooters are like "fat chicks", plenty of fun to ride until your mates see you.

If I'm not going 200K or more I take the scooter. Much easier in the city than my bike and a lot cheaper to run in that environment. Don't really care what other riders think about the scooter. If I had to choose between selling the bike or selling the scooter I would sell the bike.

...welcome lala-pilot...just come here and do what you want to do...get a road registered bike and have fun...a 350 to 500cc dirt bike with tyres that work on the road would be a good way to have fun over here in NZ...or an ER 650...a racing sidecar would make your stay here very worthwhile ...and even more fun...you meet the nicest people racing sidecars...

Unless you get a Harley, then it's definitely safety in numbers ..

Rumour has it that yes, even the odd Harley can come to grief whilst riding within a group, but that probably came by as a result of inattention at the time.

Patched riders excluded on this occasion.

That right there was the problem.... they were RIDING the things, instead of being parked at the bar.

The Ninja 650 is a good bike – a friend of mine had a 2009 one and said it was great. It shouldn't be too powerful but if you're used to riding a scooter then it will have a lot more power than that.

The Ninja 650 LAMS has restricted power. The ER-6F is unrestricted. You can't ride the unrestricted Ninja on anything other than a full NZ class 6 license.

The Ninja 650 LAMS bike would be great to learn on coming off of a scooter but it would be a bit pricey. I would suggest getting a slightly older Ninja 250, 2008 and onwards. Those bikes have similar styling to the 650 but will be cheaper and probably better to learn on.

Thanks f2dz for answer i appreciate ! And i know understand for license
Well for money i have a budget of 12 000 $ and i have to say that i wont change to another bike for at least 3 - 4 years.
If i could buy a new motorcycle it would be great !

If it is a question of power i already drove my friend's Suzuki GSX R1000 several months ! Because the age for getting the full license here (Tahiti) is 18 year old !

I saw in the NZ gov website that i need 1 year with a restricted license to access to a full class 6 license. But i'm not sure if have understand it in totality xD

I'm still looking for good bike to begin ^^ and hope to find the right one !
