    Problems with Zxr250

Hey i am planning on purchasing a 89 zxr250 with 23000 on the clock. Anway the owner has just replaced the cog and chain but he said the engine was making a rattling sound. He suggested that it could be a cracked cam.

    Anway any helpful suggestions?

    Thanks

think this might have been mentioned already. Cracked cam is pretty serious... engine probably wouldnt be going. Will probably be the cam chain or cam chain tensioner. Go out and see it, fire it up, jump on it. Rev it up a lil (like to 2k) then let the clutch out real slow... if the noise goes quiet its probably the cam chain. Not sure how much it would cost for a new cam, but labout wouldnt be cheap. Plus its the A model so parts are getting a bit hard to find in NZ, but then again you are in the land of the rising sun!

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Hey bo, it might be the cam chain. But dont know for sure. I though the pre-90s models had other gearing arrangements. You should try and go for a 93 c-model, bae. Their pretty good bikes.
    Only because i own one.
