DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
Yeah, let's bitch and moan to each other about how bad we have it as bikers / motorcyclists, and then when someone gets off their arse to try and do something about it, lets all bitch and moan about them from the safety of our keyboards....![]()
if ones going to protest at least use a little imagination to get the general public onside

I think all you haters should stfu! Honestly. Some of us gave this shit a HUGE nudge a few years ago. We could have really achieved what we wanted to but got undone by the naysayers, and the vocal supporters who did nothing. Some of us got completely jaded by the lack of continued support for the cause that "we" all cared about. In the end it fell to a few to keep going. We got tired.
Good on whoever still has the energy to get stuck in again. Good luck guys!
Nothing changes I see.
Once were warriors has nothing on you guys.
Sit there behind your keyboards and bitch, but go out and actually do something, any fucking thing and Oh,no, um we don't want to get involved! Or worse, derided by those other keyboard warriors!
Many of those who have posted here have in the past put their support into one group or another,I too have put my actions and money where my mouth was and went along, did stuff and was proud of what we did achieve.
This time round I reluctantly declined to be actively involved, that won't stop me going out with MAG, BRONZ or any other group of people, in this case, people who ride and attempting through actions, words,or active disruption, to get things changed.
Yes the message needs to be simple, clear and concise.
Yes there needs to be a real and valid threat/perception of disaffectation.
Yes none of these groups ever get far here in NZ, simply put, because unless it affects you fuckers in your OWN back pocket you don't actually give enough of a fuck to get out and make some noise, ride, disrupt.
Once, we did it,some of those involved with this newly reestablished MAG, the old AAG, BRONZ and many other organisations gave their time, their money, their best efforts and their souls to make it work and by God it did!
You lot went to Welly, you actually scared the shit outta the pollies in there that day, so much so that they came out and spoke to us, they heard us and they were actually afraid that we might come back, without warning and making their's and the rest of Wellingtons motorists lives hell by disrupting their city, at will, without warning and at our leisure.
Na, to hard, we rolled over, the Pollies laughed all the way back inside and knew that motorcyclists were never, ever, going to be a threat to them again!
No Organisation simply arrives and is instantly capable of "doing things", they need dedicated people, they need actual support from other people, they need, skilled speakers, negotiators, money raising people, and most importantly people willing to get out and help them when they need it.
If you lazy, good for nothing, tight fisted, full of ideas and suggestions, fucks, don't want to do any of the above that's fine, but at least have the decency to let these people have their objectives put forward, perhaps even be asked what exactly those objectives are.
Shame on the lot of you, at least these guys and girls are willing to try again, who knows, maybe their ideas will strike a cord, maybe not, Christ, perhaps some of you might even actually inadvertently suggest something that might work for them.Hell, then what? you gunna get involved cause it was you're idea, thought not!
Every dog has it's day, MAG ain't dead, don't you pricks kick it before it even gets it's head back above the parapet.
As for the one bike, one car park .
Think about it, DUNDER HEADS.
We pay half again what a car driver does for rego.
is it too much to ask that we are able to use a single car park, using one car park for multiple bikes is a courtesy thing, something most of us have done since day one.
However bikes still get damaged when we do this and WHY the Fuck should we.
It is a start. It was and will once again be a visible symbol of MAG's presence.
I don't know what MAG NZ's intentions are , because I'm not involved, but when MAG call for people to come out and help them do something I agree with, I will ride.
If I don't I may say so, but I won't be hitting them over the head with a fucking cricket bat.
At least they are wiling to give it a go.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Pissing off joe public on ponsonby road will achieve fuck all apart from ailienating bikers with the general public.
I would imagine if you could convince the general public that motorcyclists mean less congestion, more parks and quicker
commutes for everyone you would have some bargaining power with the powers that be and a large support base.
Political Correctness, the chief weapon of whiney arse bastards
Jeez! here we go again, OK. We pay more.
We are at greater risk, therefore we pay more.
We are often not seen, at greater risk, therefore we pay more. ACC said so!
Do you want to keep paying more and getting less?
Making motorists ( you know , car, truck ) drivers aware of a group of motorcyclists presence by denying them their usual park, does not and should not come under the heading of "pissing them off"
We as motorists have to obey the same rules they do, we pay more than them for that privilage and we have a perfect legal right to occupy a parking space.
If it pisses THEM off , great, perhaps when they've bleated at the motorcyclists ( not likely) they might go BLEAT at their local member of parliament.
Hey presto! we're back.
Simple, direct and to the point, message straight to the pollies.
Of course when all injustices have been settled and all motorcyclists have been paid out sums commensurate with the Maori treaty claims we can all go back to parking like sardines in one car park, couldn't we???
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people. --- Unknown sage
That's a bit rough. I know from this thread that Wellington does not allow bikes to park in metered spaces, is it the same in Ponsonby? All I can see on the AT website is that "if parking in a pay and display area, you are required to display your receipt at all times." So this protest was intended to consist of bikes legally parking? If so, would anyone know it was a protest or just a morning flat white for the well heeled weekend rider? The only people who would get annoyed are the SUV drivers looking for a space and, we all have to face a fact of life here, they don't give a shit about us and after driving around the block three times to get the trim soya decaf for Tarquin probably give even less of a shit now.
I don't do Facebook, and I have no idea how many actual riders use KB, but a post on here the night before an 8am start is hardly going to work. From what Max said in the OP MAG didn't even want to post on here. Understandable in one way given the responses from some in the past but they have to get over that if they want some support.
And I am still left scratching my head as to what the described action was meant to achieve other than pissing off the locals?
If you want useful ideas you first have to tell us what the problem is that is to be addressed. Simple "discrimination" doesn't wash I'm afraid, and given that half the people in this thread think the protest would just antagonise people who are sitting on the fence it would seem that there is still some work to be done. Pissing off the public will achieve nothing good.
