Hi ya Kenny, as an update to the DRZ400 situation, after winding up the recent three week ride (including Bannockburn I rode with you) the bike performed exceptionally well as it always does. Certainly there were times it was lacking power when riding with more high-performance bikes on open stretches however overall I had a blast riding it. The reality is, I wouldn't be considering changing bikes if the big end issue wasn't present.

Looking at all the time and money spent on setting that bike up, spending another $3000 to rebuild another engine in aim to detect/cure the issue is fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things. So that's the plan. I'll be rebuilding a new engine with a couple of modifications and engine monitoring processes to find what's going on, this will all be detailed in a comprehensive article on RemoteMoto of which I'll post the link soon…

Good to see it all coming along. Trying to contribute to it all as time allows but wasn't expecting anything back.
Some good ride reports appearing on there too.

The Clarence Valley Track via Blind Saddle on RemoteMoto has been fully updated with new GPX files, new routes, DOC huts and the new access details now that DOC no longer control access. The north route has been extended all the way up to Stony Flat, The Seymour River loop section to Seymour Hut has been added, the three main DOC huts have been added plus the Grade 3 and Grade 5 Limestone Hill track has been added. Like all routes on RemoteMoto, those who have already unlocked this route get all these updates for free =)

Shame to hear you are having engine problems with your Suzukis.
I had not heard any bad stories about DRZ400s previously.

My DRZ400SM is coming up 10 years old now, having covered 68,000 trouble free Kilometres.
Regular oil and filter changes only.

That you mention your bike vibrated could be an indication of something faulty from the start.
All DRZs I have ridden are silky smooth? I use the standard seat and have done some Big Km days.

Sorry I am unable to offer you a solution to this mystifying problem.
Hope your luck improves, because your credentials, website and choice of steed are impeccable...
