    Had a ride...

In an ambulance between 4:30pm and 5:00pm in heavy traffic.

Have a look at my signature.

Motorcyclists were significantly better at getting the f__k out of the way in a timely fashion. 90% of the rest of the traffic didn't move until the ambulance was right on top of them, with some people even using the fact that the vehicle in front had moved over to overtake that vehicle and queue jump.

Big kudos to the guy at the basin reserve in the GSXR1100 who practically mounted the footpath to get out of the way and opened a hole that allowed us to get round the reserve without stopping.

Why you ambos on here don't carry automatic weapons and grenade launchers is beyond me, and the guy driving was the calmest man I've ever met. I would have been fuming with indignation at the first roundabout we got to.

Awesome Jim. Yea, its a pity we have arseholes that don't know when to pull over. So tell us, why were you in the ambulance?

Just another event to add to the continuing stooooory of a quack who's gone to the dogs.

    Ooops

    Sorry

Child dramas and childhood illnesses escalating to life threatening dramas. We got out of ICU fairly quickly, and we're on the mend. The fold out cot was nearly as comfortable as my couch too.

I remember reading something about what Rudy Giuliuani (mayor of NYC for a time) decided to do for the fire trucks. They have a camera on the front and anything that gets in the way gets a fine. No "I wasn't driving" etc. The owner must pay. Apparently cut a 1/3rd of the response times.

Good plan - can they chuck another one on the back to get the people who then tailgate the ambo/firetruck/cop car in order to queue jump?

Hope the kids are on the mend, Jim, and won't be out of action for long.

I'm amazed at how few people seem to notice ambulances or police cars, even when they are right behind them. I usually hear the sirens long before I even see the vehicle, so I am always looking for somewhere to pull over if it is coming up behind me. The only time I can't get out of the way (in a car) is when you are sitting at a red light and they come up behind you!

We were on our way back from Lake Ferry on Sunday and saw this police car heading south along the Raumati Straights. Sirens, lights, headlights blazing, the full works, yet there were so many cars still in the outside lane who appeared to be making no attempt to pull over. Shows how many use their rear vision mirrors...

Hope all turns out well for the little uns Jim. I can imagine, as could most parents, what you were/are going through, as nothing causes me to get in a 'flap' more than seeing my little uns ill/sick/in need of emergency attention.

Good luck with the littlies Jim.

Nothing more pissing off than catching up with three or so cars, the 'work' car has all the bells and whistles going/flashing, the front two or so cars pull over and slow down - and the one right on front of me carefully overtakes the two or three cars on front of him, argh! :slap:

WTF, do they regularly have the three or so cars on front of them put on indicators and mysteriously pull over in a synchronised move???

I hope all goes well with Jim jr.

I was traveling down the southern a couple of years ago and one of those fire servce 4x4's came up behind me with his light going so i pulled over to let him go but a wanker in the jeep in front of me just kept on trucking at 100k's, even when the 4x4 put his siren on he just sat there, from just after greenlane until the 4x4 turned off at mt wellington, i was steaming but had to turn off there too,

It's funny how our country complains about our emergency service resoponce times but we're the ones that hold them back.
