    Battlestar MKII - The Blacklestar

    http://www.davidcohen.co.nz/black2/index.htm

Started life with me as a Platinum 1998 Trophy 1200 with a rooted back shock, stuffed tyres and a huge flat spot at 4,000rpm. But I saw the potential on a test ride. 2 owners, neither hard riders and it fitted me very nicely.

First thing was Ohlins Shock, Fork Springs, a decent short screen and new rubber.

Dynojet kit and K&N fixed some of the flat spot, but then the opportunity to buy a wrecked Daytona 1200 came along and 12:1 pistons, Daytona cams and valves were added (wanted to do the whole head, but the water jackets didn't line up). Had Mark at Neptune Mufflers fabricate some cans and connector pipes and it was running 125hp at the back wheel.

Geared it down a bit (back sprocket), Picked up a Corbin seat along the way, installed some race tech cartridge emulators and a way-trick set of stainless steel adjustable drop links for the rear suspension - means i can jack the back up for good ground clearance and much quicker steering and it also means the geometry isn't effected by a passenger - Co-pilot which it carries 80% of the time.

The paint was the latest mod.

Took it for a thrash through the Hunuas and Bombay Hills and over to the Pahootukawa coast. After a long run of minor and major glitches it's running like a dream again. Sounds fantastic and it goes and I ride it like a sprots bike for a big bloke that it is.

    Happy happy joy joy.

She's well enough trained to have it spotted by the time I get off the bike.

I'm quite partial to the music too.
